Jamie Foxx takes heat for calling Obama "our Lord and savior"

Jamie Foxx is drawing criticism for calling President Barack Obama "our Lord and savior" at the recent Soul Train Music Awards in Las Vegas.

In the pre-recorded program that was broadcast Sunday night on BET, Foxx urges the audience to "first of all, give an honor to God -- and our Lord and savior, Barack Obama!"

The audience responds with cheers as Foxx shouts the president's name again and urges them to "stand up."

On the Human Events blog, John Hayward writes, "Practicing Christians are not amused by the portrayal of modern secular politicians as replacements for Jesus. But presumably their feelings don't count, because they won't burn anything down in outrage."

Catholic League President Bill Donohue notes that last December, Foxx said he didn't know what God meant to him. On the League's website, Donohue says Mr. Obama has apparently convinced "Jamie Foxx, and no doubt legions of others, that God exists."

There's messed up comments made everyday but yet the focus is on this. :( It's sad how this became important but how about bringing prayer back into school :)We need it.I think anything with Obama in the media especially those that voted against him will be taken offensive with or without comparison to anyone big or small. There's bigger fish to fry than to entertain the entertainment with being too damn serious at the wrong time. I think we as the people of the United States of America need to grow up. Whether christian or not, I'll let you know that the
early christians in 1st century were tortured and killed because
the romans demanded caesar be called "Lord". Christians obviously responded that Jesus is Lord and Savior. Do you see how this is important to christians? I bet he wouldn't have said anything about Muhammad. The Muslims would have got that ass. He would have a threat put on him. KennyG: Your ignorance is as painful to witness as a tooth extraction with no anesthesia. Perhaps if you closed your mouth and opened your mind, you would learn what many people of color have known for a decade. AA's are not ever going to be a majority. The AA birth rate is close to as low as is the white birth rate. Only the Hispanic segment is growing at a geometric rate.
