New characters that might carry their own NCIS: Los Angeles spinoff will be introduced in an upcoming episode of the CBS drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The episode -- a two-parter -- will center on a team of mobile agents who live together as they travel across the country solving crimes. NCIS: LA executive producer Shane Brennan will write and produce the potential spinoff, according to THR.

This method of introduction has proven successful for CBS in the past, as both NCIS: LA and NCIS both debuted as two-part episodes of established shows. NCIS was a spinoff of JAG, while NCIS: LA was an offshoot of the original series.

The move would further strengthen what is now the strongest franchise on TV. Now in its 10th season, NCIS is still one of the highest rated shows on television.
