LOS ANGELES Actor and outspoken liberal John Cusack is developing a movie about conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, Cusack's production company said Friday.

The working title is "Rush," Cusack's New Crime Productions confirmed, offering no other details.

Hollywood director Betty Thomas, who's set to work on the film, said the production company is putting finishing touches on a script that will star the actor. Production is set for next year, Thomas said.

Limbaugh is in the front ranks of colorful and provocative media figures. Earlier this year, Limbaugh called a Georgetown law student a "slut" and a "prostitute" on air for arguing to Democrats in Congress that health plans should pay for contraception.

This week, the host mocked Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for his "bromance" with Obama after Christie praised the president's response to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Cusack as Limbaugh isn't typecasting, politics aside. Cusack is a slender, dark-haired 46-year-old, while Limbaugh is 61, balding and portly. But Hollywood's makeup experts have probably had greater challenges.

A publicist for Limbaugh said Friday he would check with the host for comment. The agency representing Cusack, Creative Artists Agency, declined comment on the project.

Cusack's credits range from the teen flick "Sixteen Candles" to offbeat films like "Being John Malkovich." He attended President Barack Obama's 2008 inauguration but has criticized Obama over his military and civil liberties policies.

Thomas is a former actress ("Hill Street Blues") and an Emmy-award winning director ("Dream On") whose big-screen films include Howard Stern's "Private Parts" and "The Brady Bunch Movie."

Thomas' latest project is an online series, "Audrey," that is showing on the YouTube channel WIGS.

I don't like watching the man in real life.
Why make a movie about him? Anyone who know Limbaughs name already knows
all the crazy they need to know about him.

Then again, I say cast Will Ferrell as Rush Limbaugh...
Comic gold :P

Maybe he'll highlight some of the curious personal aspects of Rush's life, such as his numerous wives (there are rumors about their living situation), his hyper love of his cat Pumpkin, his love of tea and never having children. I suspect Rush is gay.

Rush Limbaugh is an arrogant hypocritical scumbag pig. He is disrepectful to woman, he promotes racism and hatred with his "bell curve" theories. He should have been booted off the air years ago and sent to jail like any other drug addict. Capitalistpig sounds like a complete ********* as well. I'd love to see the dirt that Cusack drags up on Limbaugh...i'm sure it's good stuff.

Scorpio is correct Cusak was indeed in "Sixteen Candles" albeit a small part. I didn't remember his being in it until Scorpio mentioned it. You can find him in the cast on IMBD.

Notice how when a conservative is successful or popular the left will produce a film or so called documentary supporting their negative narrative of the person in order to shut them up or at least discredit them as much as possible. You very seldom will see conservatives doing the same to a liberal. These films are never accurate in their portrayal. Only so in the minds of leftists that can't produce a valid argument so they resort to character assassination. Usually these people have never even listened to or read anything the subject has said or written, at least not in context anyway. The negative comments about Rush I have read on this site are proof of this. People merely repeating what they have heard or read somewhere else without having first hand knowledge. To all of you hateful leftists out there that don't really believe in freedom of choice unless the choice is the same as you have chosen let me say this. There is a huge difference between what you think and what you know.

Yeah there was that movie that just came out 2016 obama's america. I'm pretty confident that that movie was not pro obama. As a recovering conservative I can tell you I have listened to rush, hannity, boortz, and others and they are all beneath contempt for the lies and misleading comments they make. Please quit drinking the neo-con kool-aid and open your mind to other points of view.

Rush is a slimeball bigot who gets millions to shoot off his mouth on radio. He says everything that most conservatives think, but would not ever say because if they did so the bigotry that they practice privately would show how really shallow and greedy they are. Limbaugh's show is right winged entertainment, which would be fine, except for the people that he hurts by spewing his lies and accusations. This drug addict portrays himself as a moral person, but in 5 minutes of listening to him, his immorality outshines everything else. I hope that Cusack's new film paints Limbaugh into the corner where he belongs, hopefully a cell somewhere where he is forced to listen to himself for eternity. I am not interested in anything Rush has to say about anything.

Love the Rush hate that this story generates. Rush gets under your skin and the hate you display shows it. Rush is funny, entertaining and worst of all he loves this country and shows it by excoriating the pathetic, failed ideas of the collectivist group-think Left. He's more successful than you sad little turds will ever be. He has helped to mobilize political opposition and has made "liberal" the dirty word it always was.

Cu-sack must be in need of some publicity. It's not like he has had a hit in awhile. This way he can substitute his lack of success by sponging off of Rush's.

What a complete **** you must be! Hitler and Mussolini had the proficiency and, dare I say charisma to spout a bunch of hot air and #$! and fools were dumb enough to listen to these idiots. Dolts like you who listen to this foul gibberish are just another fascist faction creeping up from the sewers of the past. America will never let your foul stench corrupt this nation you fool. If you want to be a Christian fundamentalist like those Muslims you hate so bad, you'd better be going off to some other country where they greet your type of trash because if It ever comes to running your types out of town, I'll be the first to volunteer. Go jump off a cliff and save all of us some trouble!

Cusask is a good, dependable actor who appears to do his best in every role he takes. See "Runaway Jury" and "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" for examples. However, that doesn't mean that his politics deserve any more credibility than any of ours. He likely is a Hollywood Liberal by virtue of being in that environment and so his opinions may be right in line with Susan Sarandon, Barbra and Sean Penn. Doesn't mean he is any more right than Joe the Plumber, just that he has a larger soapbox to spout his philosophies from. I will, as any independent thinker should, reserve judgment of his Limbaugh attempt until I've seen it.
