The bend oregon oldies station has decided not to do oldies anymore and the only alternative is country. Heaven help us. What happened to moral charactor, pride in public appearence, and dressing up for grand awards? What are they teaching our kids? The music isn't too bad if you can't see the performers.

Country isn't country anymore. The women on this show dress horribly and the music is just awful. Little big town? Oh please! The morality of the women in that band...her husband dies and she wastes no time remarrying and having a child. And they both dress like streetwalkers. That is not country music. Reba needs to retire, Sugarland is awful, that girl that sings in Lady Antelbellum looks like a nightmare...

Country music used to be about down home values and the simple life. Bring back bands like Alabama, Shenendoah, Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless, Travis Tritt, and Tracey Byrd.

Willie Nelson was the only performer on the show that was truly country.

The CMT's are just awful! Yuck!

I love how the only person you champion is a habitual drug user. Now thats family values. I would suggest if you don't like it...turn it off!

You and me are on the same team Brother or Sister!!!

To me so-called "country-music" sounds more like bad 70's rock. What you hear on the radio these days reminds me of the stuff you'd go hear at the Holiday Inn or at some YMCA dance...it seems like the scene is short on genuine talent, and sadly has lost its way. There are a few exceptions,; I enjoy some of the stuff Ryan Bingham and Hayes Carll does...for a sound that you might relate to, look up Blaze Foley...unfortunately he's no longer with us, but he LIVED the life, and told us all about it in the songs he left behind. Lucinda Williams and Hank III are doing some good things as well, and I'm sure there are a few more...but you don't often hear from these artists.

Nowadays you can't tell the difference between one male singer and the next, they all sound identical...same thing for the women. You are absolutely right about the content of this so-called "music" coming out of Nashville these days...it's all homogenized, mass-produced and pathetic in it's conformity.

I believe that fans of TRUE country music need to write the publishers and record labels and demand that this genre return to what it's supposed to be and sound like before it's too late.....and no one remembers or even cares anymore.

Hank Williams SENIOR, wrote songs about real things and wrong things and right things...little books that told stories that everyone could understand and relate to. Outlaws like Waylon and Willie and even Kris Kristofferson sang about the edgy side of living with experiential authority...that was the requirement for admission, and country music's genuineness. Check out some of Johnny Cash's last works...pure to the bone. It's based there, and needs to return to what it really is...not what the suits and uneducated "fans" have turned it into and let it become. Some things need to evolve, and some things already have...

If one wants some good examples of what I'm talking about, check out these. Some are still doing it. Here's a partial list...

Townes Van Zandt
Guy Clark
Billy Joe Shaver
Steve Earle
Chris LeDoux
Jerry Jeff Walker
Robert Earl Keen
There are a few more fortunately, but my fingers are tired.

Thanks for touching on an important topic MARI1963...you give me HOPE.
