CBS has ordered full seasons of its freshman dramas "Elementary" and "Vegas."

The network announced Tuesday that it has given back-nine orders to both shows.

"'Vegas' and 'Elementary' have opened strong, delivering big audiences and winning performances in important time periods," CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said in a statement. "Each of the shows has rich characters, big stars and a unique visual style that have stood out in the crowd, helping make two of our strongest nights even stronger."

"Vegas," starring Dennis Quaid as a 1960s Las Vegas sheriff and Michael Chiklis as a mobster, ranks as the most-watched new series this fall, averaging 14.9 million total viewers on Tuesdays at 10 p.m., and a 2.7/08 in adults 18-49. It has improved eight percent in total viewers, compared to that time slot a year ago.

"Elementary" stars Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu as New York City-based Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. That drama has averaged 14.3 total viewers on Thursdays at 10 p.m., and a 3.5/10 in adults 18-49. It is up 17 percent in adults 18-49 compared to the time period last year.

Earlier this month, CBS pulled legal drama "Made in Jersey" off its Friday night schedule. The network has not yet made any announcements about the fate of its new comedy "Partners."

Vegas is by far the best new show on TV.
CBS had better not cancel this outstanding show.

The characters and storyline keep you riveted.

When is the next episode going to air?

My husband does not do electronics and has asked me to convey his feelings on "Elementary".

He is a HUGE Sherlock Holmes fan...he has most of the Sherlock Holmes movies on VHS and DVD.

He watches any and all that he can get his hands on!!!

He wanted me to let you know how much he likes the new show "Elementary".

The premise is a little different than he is used to, but he really likes the way that you have converted Watson into a woman's role and how well they both play off each other's quirks, weaknesses and strengths.

The depth of the issues are portrayed well, along with the deduction skills that are being used.

I also enjoy the show, and we both hope that it is picked up for another season!!!

I'm glad that both shows received full season orders, and I agree with Nina Tassler that they have rich characters, and stand out as the best two new programs this year. I'm caught up with Elementary and need to gain serious ground on Vegas episodes, but I had them recorded through my Hopper's Primetime Anytime feature. A coworker at DISH said that once enabled, my DVR automatically records three hours of the big four networks during primetime, so I can keep up with shows without setting timers for them. I can't wait to catch up with Vegas since I think Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis play off each other so well.

They renewed Elementary? Really?? I tried watching that show, I really wanted to like it but I can't stand Holmes's character and I don't buy that Lucy Lui's character would be able to make a living now as a babysitter to an addict. Vegas I like fairly well, I enjoy it...but Partner's? That one just sucks. It tries way too hard, it's really not funny (yes there are a few funny lines here and there) and the chemistry is totally lacking. CBS can do a LOT better when it comes to comedies.
