Some Colorado fans are not happy that pop superstar Madonna used guns to open up her performance in Denver on Thursday night, in light of recent events in the state.

Madonna started her show at the Pepsi Center in Denver with a gun scene, which she has used in previous performances. However, fans  are  saying she should have  been more sensitive in Colorado, where 12  people  were  killed in a midnight movie massacre in July.

According to KUSA-TV, the station received several calls Friday from concert-goers saying they were offended she used guns and violence as part of her show, especially after the mass shooting at a Colorado theater during a "Batman" movie on July 20 that left 12 people dead.

Madonna's press agent, Liz Rosenberg, said Friday that there was no way to eliminate the scene, because it is a core part of the show.

"It's like taking out the third act of Hamlet," she said.

Rosenberg said Madonna's style is to shake things up.

"Madonna does not make things pretty and tie them up with a bow," she said.

In a statement before beginning the tour, Madonna said she does not condone the use of guns.

"Rather, they are symbols of wanting to appear strong and wanting to find a way to stop feelings that I find hurtful or damaging," she said.

She said she is using the guns as symbols of intolerance and "the pain I have felt from having my heart broken."

Why do so many people have nothing better to do than seek oportunities to be offended? Perhaps "some fans" would have been better off buying tickets to a performance they actually wanted to see. It's a disturbing trend that a biased agenda of a few can be twisted into sounding like the voice of the majority. There are few ethics in modern journalism.

Madonna is an entertainer. She offends verbally. She can offend sexually on stage as well. If you're easily offended, don't go to her concert in the first place. As a matter of fact, you should stay away from rock, pop, hip hop, and several other concerts too.

Madonna's Broken Heart

Then said Jesus unto her, Put up again thy gun into his place: for all they that take a gun shall perish with a shotgun blast in the heart. (Matthew 26:52, King James Updated Version)

What's ridiculous is comparing a Madonna performance to Hamlet.

this is ridiculous... NOBODY in the crowd was anything other than appreciative to be there to see the queen do her thing. The guns have been a part of the show since it started almost a YEAR AGO... if anyone there didnt know about them, they should have been there in the first place. They continued to show the EXTREMELEY violent Batman film that was on when the shooting took place for MONTHS after the shooting - and people kept going to see it! Why would they keep the movie playing in Colorado but expect Madonna to stop using fake guns in her act months later? Who wrote this article, some stupid gaga monster?

Why is this woman still performing? She's been a "has-been" for, like, 20 years now.

why would you take time out of your day to comment on someone that you consider to be a has been for 20 years. Madonna is in the process of finishing up what will be the highest grossing solo female tour of all time. Doesnt sound like something that her fans consider to be a has been. go back to the gaga website and spend your time watching her copy the original.

I don't understand the fans of Madonna. She's a no-talent pig, famous only because she can shock people
