Adele, Frank Sinatra among top funeral songs

It's almost always fun to pick out potential wedding songs, but how about a funeral song? A swan song, if you will.

Frank Sinatra's "My Way" is the most requested song at British funerals, according to NME, citing figures from Co-operative Funeralcare's chart.

In second place was Sarah Brightman/Andrea Bocelli's "Time To Say Goodbye," followed by Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings" and Eva Cassidy's "Over The Rainbow."

Adele has been at the top of the pop music charts for months, but her "Someone Like You" just entered the Co-operative Funeralcare's chart at No. 22. Funeral homes also get requests for Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On," Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody" and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You."

The list was compiled by Co-operative Funeralcare, which operates more than 880 funeral homes in the U.K. The Top 20 pop songs that have been requested at funerals in 2012 are below.

According to the study, one quarter of funeral directors turn down song requests based on various reasons. One example is John Lennon's "Imagine" because it has the lyrics: "Imagine there's no Heaven."

Check out the complete list via NME:

you're dead, you can't hear a thing. what does it matter what music is played at your funeral? none of it matters because in 50 years after your death no one will remember or much care about your funeral unless you were a notable, made the history books. people get silly over funerals, just as they do over weddings.

It may not matter to you but I am currently planning a funeral for my 15 year old brother so it matters to me. And I will remember the songs we picked they will always remind me of him I also remember the songs from my all my grandparents funerals because they mean something. You need to stop being so heartless or at least be a bit more sensitive to other people's feelings. I don't normally comment on things like this but seeing your comment upset me.

Or maybe Aoife Ni Fhearraigh - The Best Is Yet To Come.

"We're all born with an expiration date. No one lasts forever. Life is nothing but a grace period for turning our genetic material into the next generation. The data of life is transferred from parent to child. That's how it works. But we have no heirs, no legacy. Cloned from our father with the ability to reproduce conveniently engineered out. What is our legacy if we cannot pass the torch? Proof of our existence a mark of some sort When the torch is passed on from parent to child... It extends beyond DNA, information is imparted as well. All I want is to be remembered. By other people, by history. The Patriots are trying to protect their power, their own interests, by controlling the digital flow of information. I want my memory, my existence to remain. Unlike an intron of history, I will be remembered as an exon. That will be my legacy, my mark on history. But the Patriots would deny us even that, I will triumph over the Patriots, and liberate us all. And we will become the Sons of Liberty!"
