"Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars" elimination: Bristol rolls as 2 axed
Former "DWTS" champions Helio Castroneves, left, and Drew Lachey were eliminated in the show's third round Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012
/ ABCLook not on this page, dear reader, for poison prose about the girl from Alaska who keeps four-wheeling over more talented competitors.
No tirade about the unfairness of a world that rewards the barely competent over the gifted.
If you're looking for barbs about a voting audience that has reduced political clout to its most trivial denominator, you need to Google elsewhere.
We're not going to write that Bristol Palin taking her Red-State free-ride once again is an expression of the rampant mediocrity that threatens to drag down our great nation.
If it needs saying, someone else will have to say that every week that Bris endures on "Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars" is an aberration of the very definition of a "talent show."
No, I said all I needed to say last week, when the Bristol effect first reared its ugly head again after keeping her in the game way too long in Season 11. So let's just get to the recap.
After Monday night's dazzling show, it became clear there were at least eight dancers who had the talent and moves to go all the way this season.
One of that eight, ex-boy band member Drew Lachey, was sent packing Tuesday -- the first former "DWTS" champion to go.

The second contestant ousted was Brazilian race car driver Helio Castroneves, whose super-charged smile and "aw-shucks, I-love-ya America" charm couldn't translate to audience support this time around. Castroneves, also a former "DWTS" champ, was part of the underbrush that needs clearing to get to the best and brightest.
As for Lachey, the champion from the early days of "DWTS" before the bar got raised, I didn't see him going very far. Not because he's not a great dancer but because -- how to say this? -- he seemed a little creepy. He was talking smack at the beginning of the season about how he was as good as anybody, and on Monday, he did some lewd thrust with his hips and bragged about fathering two kids. He came across to me like that one eighth-grade kid who was always shaking down the fifth-graders for their cafeteria money.
The elimination show began with a reprise of the amazing quick step by Shawn Johnson and her partner, Derek Hough, which was hailed by the judges and this writer as one of the best dances ever seen on "DWTS" -- full of energy, fun and flips.
"Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars"
Amid the drawn-out culling process that "DWTS" uses to stretch out the suspense, the show also tried a new gimmick. Each of the contestants was called upon to select a dance for next week for a fellow competitor. A crop of new dances -- most of them new styles for the show -- were thrown into the mix.
In sports, this is where you would make your rival with the sore knee do a 10-mile race. But the all-stars are all too nicey-nice to go for the jugular. Still, it will be fun to see some new dances next week: contemporary, hip-hop, Broadway, bolero, Bollywood, rock 'n' roll, Charleston, disco, jitterbug and mambo.
In the first elimination, Kirstie Alley, herself on shaky ground, got a scare when she was paired with Lachey in the bottom two. But she survived to use her wiles and comic assets for another round.
"I can honestly say I would not change a thing, you know. Everyone questioned why I would come back. I came back because this is fun," said Lachey after the axe fell.
In the final elimination, Sabrina Bryan was paired with Lachey. Although she's a great dancer, I think Bryan may have trouble sticking around. Her personality is kind of generic and, given the opportunity this week to express her creative control, she delivered an ordinary, if well-rendered, dance.
We got to see more of those pearly whites when Castroneves got the cut. "I want to thank America, you guys vote for me, I couldn't be happier."
The one who SHOULD be thanking America is -- oh wait, we're not going there.

"Dancing With The Stars" is no longer a talent show, but rather a disgusting "popularity contest." It is beyond disappointing to see talented dancers like Drew Lachey and Helio Castroneves sent home just so that spoiled cry-baby Bristol can remain.
If the producers are so desperate to placate this untalented spoiled child, they should just "outright give her" the meaningless "Mirror Ball Trophy" and send her home. Afterwards, they can then allow the truly dedicated dancers to continue with this dance competition.
Bristol's lowest moment was when she cried and whined that her partner, Mark Ballas, "wasn't there for her." But no one believed Bristol and no one felt sorry for her. This childish display simply gave the viewing audience even more reason to be disgusted with this "no-talent" spoiled, cry-baby Palin.
Yes, there is good reason why there are so many horrible negative comments about Bristol Palin. She is worthy of them all.

Thinkbeforeyouwrite says:I have not watched DWTS since the last voting controversy over Bristol. I do not hate the girl but her days as a celebrity should be ending. I do wish her a happy life. The DWTS voting was being based on political feelings and not skill and hard work. It was a distortion of the whole reason for the show. Including Bristol in the competition does give the show a lot of attention which is what they want.reply

adeas1132 replies: linkicon reporticon emailicon You don't hate her? Really?? Her days as a celebrity should be ending? Really? And who appointed you as the official to call that game over?? Who gives you the authority to say when someone's status should change just because you don't like her? Did you not hear the judges tell her last night that it was her best performance ever?? Did you not see that others did worse than she did, but the judges STILL put Bristol & Mark at the bottom even though they did better than others?? ALL of you are basing your vitriol for Bristol on your political biases and nothing more. The girl works just as hard if not harder than anybody on there because she has to because she is swimming upstream every week against not only the judges, but people like the troll that wrote this "article" if you can call it that and people like the ones on here that dislike her simply because her last name is Palin!! I am astonished that I found this article that is so blatantly biased on a CBS website written as a story. This wasn't a story or an article. This was a bash Bristol piece, plain and simple. CBS should be ashamed. Oh, but wait, they won't be because they are just as biased as all of you!! It is a shame what our media has become. Just a shame. And it's a shame that all of you "liberals" that claim to be the party of peace and love can waste so much energy with so much hate and disdain for a little girl from Alaska that has never done a single thing to a single one of you other than have the last name Palin. The Palin name just drives you all crazy. It would actually be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic. This is a TELEVISION SHOW!!! Americans are voting for her. Get over it!!
It must be very difficult for you to accept the fact that no one agrees with you here. Perhaps you should simply try to enjoy the show and try not to think about the "other people" who disagree with you. Try to be happy.
But seriously, if any of you are taking DWTS as seriously as it appears from your posts, you really need to think about
1. Getting a tv with more than one channel
2. Find something else to do with your time.
3. Take a pill before something bursts
4. Get a freakin life!!!
It is a TELEVISION SHOW PEOPLE!!!!!!! And the ONLY reason all of your heads are spinning around is because this young girl's last name is Palin. Plain and simple. Has NOTHING to do with her dancing skills. You liberal's Palin syndrome would be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic. The only thing Bristol is guilty of is having the last name Palin. She has just as much right to be there as anyone else on the show. She works hard, and the judges even told her that was her best performance ever. She did better than several of the other couples, but the judges STILL put her at the bottom because they know all of you loons would lose it!! Either that or they are just as bias and Palin syndrome as all of you. I say more power to Bristol! I hope she wins just to see all of you explode! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Your last sentence is painfully revealing when you state: "I hope she wins just to see all of you 'explode'! HAHAHAHA HAHAHA..."
Do you "really" want to see people 'explode', "ADEAS1132" ? Do you somehow derive personal satisfaction at the thought of human suffering (i.e. people "exploding")? Perhaps this would be a good time for you to do some long overdue personal introspection. No one really deserves to be so painfully unhappy, as you are. Use this moment as an opportunity to find the inner-peace you deserve. Good luck to you, and enjoy the show!

zenia5 replies: linkicon reporticon emailicon JV1970 gets her knickers in a knot at any criticism of her idols, the Palins. She thinks they are beyond perfect in everything they do because of all Sarah Palin's phony flag-waving and bible thumping during the campaign, pandering to the evangelicals. She preached "family values" incessantly, yet look at Bristol. I saw a clip of Bristol's "reality show" where her toddler son was spewing the "F" word and Bristol just laughed at him uncontrollably. During the last Dancing With the Stars episode that Bristol was on, she made the statement, "I would love to win this thing...it would be like giving the middle finger to those people who hate my mom." These are the "family values" that Sarah instills in her children. They are all a bunch of phony wannabes. Such a shame that their millions can't buy class and intellect. I also agree that Bristol is just getting the "Honey Boo Boo" vote.
To the woman that just cannot figure out what to tell her grandchildren - here's a suggestion - tell them that DWTS is a bunch of movie stars on a reality show having FUN!! NOT a bunch of professional dancers having a recital or a life or death dance audition!! THAT'S what you tell them. And that Bristol Palin has just as much right to be on the show as any of the others there - because she was INVITED!!!!! It's not like she just showed the hell up there!! Or you can begin to teach them how to hate people at an early age for no reason other than their political beliefs like all of you!! I personally would chose the first.
You all should really either
1. Get a TV with more than one channel so you can turn it if something is on you don't want to watch
2. Take this show for what it really is - a fun reality show
3. Take a pill before something bursts
4. Or get a life!!
5. Last but not least, stop teaching your children to hate people just because they don't agree with you!!
What a shame that the Palins never learned this lesson. The reason they are so scorned is BECAUSE of all the hate, lies, deceptions, and slander they spewed during the campaign ... and still do. They are simply reaping what they have sown.
She "WAS" a former governor. How many former governors do you know who get tv face time? Give us a break!!
