(CBS News) Bobbi Brown stopped by "CBS This Morning" on Friday to discuss her new book, "Pretty Powerful: Beauty Stories to Inspire Confidence," but the makeup maven also spoke about choosing actress Katie Holmes as her cosmetics brand's spokeswoman.

"I never set out to hire a celebrity. I met her, I liked her," Brown told Charlie Rose and Gayle King during the interview. "We talked about being a mother, an entrepreneur, and I looked at her and said, 'Oh my God, you're stunning.' Why not?"

Holmes was announced as the face of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics last month. The 33-year-old actress will appear on the brand's spring print ads and displays.

"She's awesome," she added of Holmes. "She's a Midwestern girl, nice, normal."

Brown was also the lead makeup artist at the presentation for Holmes' clothing line, Holmes & Yang, at New York Fashion Week in September.
