(AP) LOS ANGELES - For the right price, you or a loved one can rest in peace in the tomb of The King.

Celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien is selling Elvis Presley's original crypt to the highest bidder as part of his "Music Icons" auction next month.

The tomb is located inside the granite and marble mausoleum at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.

Presley was interred there alongside his mother, Gladys, after he died Aug. 16, 1977. Two months later, they were reburied at his Graceland home. The original crypt has remained empty ever since.

Julien says the winning bid from the auction beginning June 23 will receive the crypt, opening and closing of the vault for burial, a memorialization inscription and use of a chapel for a committal service. Transportation and funeral home charges are not included.

This goes right up there with that old "shot up" car occupied by Bonnie and Clyde Parker, when they were ambushed by the law.

If you turn you life into a carnival and live like a side show exhibit, then people will do turn your death into one.

Doesn't that just mean you were famous and in Elvis' case, people loved him?

Well, here we go again!!! LET IT GO!! Elvis is dead, and please even if he so called "faked" his death, it was 35 years ago!!! He'd be an old man, and his health wasn't that great with all the drugs he did. You people are pathetic. And please, buying his crypt??? That's sick. He wasn't in it that long anyway, cuz people kept vandalizing. Do yourself a favor, go take a tour of Graceland, go where he LIVED and not where he was buried at.

The mindset that makes people out of "icons" will be the same of the person or individuals who will offer to pay an unbelieveable amount of money for this. Such a mindset is prevalent and keeps the paparazzi in business.

The individual who sells it is simply smart enough to take advantage of it.

I agree. If I owned it and didn't care anything about Elvis, I would sell it too. Make a fortune. Why not? It's called free enterprise or capitalism.
