(AP) MALIBU, Calif. - Authorities say actor Michael Madsen has been arrested for investigation of cruelty to a child after a fight with his teenage son.

A Los Angeles County sheriff's statement says Madsen was arrested Friday afternoon at his home in Malibu, after deputies were called about a family disturbance.

The statement says detectives from the Special Victims Bureau are investigating allegations that Madsen was under the influence of alcohol and fought with his son, who did not need medical attention.

Madsen was arrested without incident and booked at the Lost Hills sheriff's station.

He is being held on $100,000 bail.

The 54-year-old Madsen is known for the Quentin Tarantino movies "Reservoir Dogs" and "Kill Bill."

Phone and email messages seeking comment from Madsen's representatives were not immediately returned.

The older you get the more horrible reality gets. If you're lucky enough to live to be old you will watch many loved ones die, etc. I feel good now though cause I'm better off than most. Ain't got no problem in my life... Just wait a while cause your problems will get here if you live long enough. For sure.

"If it was a fistfight"
You don't call the cops even if it's a fistfight - unless the family says let's call the cops.
My dad and brother use to go at it with books and chairs and still end up with a handshake at the end of the day.
Government, stay out of people's private lives.
And people, you should be alarmed at your being casual about invasions like this.

I'd like to be rich enough to get arrested in Malibu. Trade places with ya Mikey? I wouldn't be in a fist fight with my kid though because I don't practice abusive personality behaviour. He would have been raised non violently, but obviously money and sense don't often go hand in hand in your world, and you obviously haven't invested enough in the child the universe gave to you.

Was this a fistfight? If not, the police should damned well butt out of this. Me and my father/mother had a few screaming fights when I was 13-18 (we still do from time to time). It's perfectly natural and not a sign of 'cruelty to a child'.

Now, if this was a fistfight, I want to know one thing: WHO THREW THE FIRST PUNCH? If it was the child? Getting what he deserved.

If it was the father, he's a violent nitwit who should be locked up.

Children who throw punches often imitate adults who do the same. Children don't "get what they deserve," moron, because adults make them what they are. I'd hate to be your kid, and if you were my parent, you'd get what you deserve.
