Sony PS4 event gets skewered in animated parody

Taiwanese animators Next Media Animation is taking the Sony PlayStation 4 event to task.

Sony announced its next-generation video game console at a press event in New York City, but the PS4 itself was a no-show.

Sony says that the PS4 features a PC-like body architecture, x86 CPU, enhanced PS GPU, 8 gigabytes of unified memory, local storage hard drive and an updated DualShock 4 controller.

The animation group created a video mocking the PS4 at Wednesday's press event. Sony treated members of the press to experience what using the next-generation console might feel like with live demonstrations, but did not actually show the video game console or hint at a price point.

Watch the video below. Parental discretion is advised for mild animated nudity and violence.

Who has time to play the games for these things besides children? Hey kids a new PlayStation is coming out with an entire legion of games! Make your parents pay for them all! Augh! Whatever.

The "PC gaming" industry is expensive stereotype is getting old. It's pretty obvious that JUS504 doesn't know what he's talking about...He either doesn't know what to buy, or just don't know how to properly build a PC..

Minecraft is a CPU intensive game, buy a proper CPU and that is all that really requires....

PC Gaming can bring console quality gaming at a very low pricetag...and can go all the way up to $2000 if you want graphics that are out of this world....

JUS504 have you heard of a bottleneck? If you buy a $500 graphics card it wont matter if you have a poor cooling solution, slow CPU, or about any other physical part in a computer..Build a computer with a Core i3, or a AMD FX 4100 with the correct powersupply, and Ram..and you'll fly with minecraft...If you do experience lag check into a Graphics card that has more memory, because the PC version of games are able to render way more polygons on screen than any console...

Ok the ps4 will essentially be a PC so why would I buy this I'll just build one and it will allot cheaper. Look through the history of the Playstation's and you will see their uniqueness the ps1 had a MIPS based cpu, The ps2 had the Emotion Engine witch was based off the RISC cpu, The Ps3 had the cell and that's from IBM's PPC cpu. Now after all that their going PC like apple did no thanks nothing unique about the x86 cpu's other then they are easier to code for and don't require special hardware.

In your dreams. You'll need to spend at least $800-1200 for any PC to run at 30-45fps. Anything below that price range won't even run minecraft great. Trust me, I've built 3 PCs. The thing is, you can't compare PC to consoles, for which, consoles were specially optimized for gaming. It's more gamer friendly than that of a PC.
PS: Don't rush to judgement so fast. Sony was definitely holding back some important concepts to save for E3.

maybe this might be why to use the x86 chip?

Perhaps Sony missed an opportunity to allow consumers to use their tablets, or smartphones to control game action, via app...instead of introducing a controller with a touch strip.
