Apple may be releasing a 128 gigabyte model of the iPad, according to a recent report. But don't get your hopes up for a fifth-generation model yet.

According to the blog 9to5 Mac, Apple is not launching a new tablet, but adding an additional iPad to its lineup.

Citing "sources," the blog claims that the new iPad will be a fourth-generation model with similar specifications as current tablets - which come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models.

The rumor surfaced after code was found in a beta release of Apple's mobile operating system iOS 6.1 that suggests compatibility with a 128GB device.

It's worth noting that 9to5 Mac says it is "not confident enough to outright claim" that Apple is releasing a 128GB iPad model, but the "evidence" suggests it will likely happen.

According to 9to5 Mac, if Apple does release a 128GB iPad it will likely cost $799 for a Wi-Fi only model and $929 for a Wi-Fi and cellular model.

Apple announced the fourth-generation iPad with Retina display along with the iPad mini on Oct. 23, 2012. Both tablets went on sale worldwide two-weeks later on Nov. 2.

Don't buy a 16 GB model iPad. I filled mine up in less than a week. No I did not fill it up with movies as I only have 1 movie and a handful of songs on it.

I didn't buy the 32 GB model because I have trouble with paying $100 extra for only 16 GB.

I also have a Android Tablet and I LOVE the SD card slot. Why can't Apple do this? Sure you can use the adapter to hook up an SD card but you can't do anything with the contents until you download it onto the device.

I like the iPad more than the Android tablet (WAY faster and better apps) but the lack of real SD or USB drive support is a serious issue.

Anything more than 16GB is overkill. Here's why. As long as you have internet, you can just stream your files ( video,music...)

And iPad without internet is like a car without gas. No point.

Oh and Apple doesn't like Flash and SD. Apple way or no way.

Good luck.

Only an iSheep would pay the prices Apple wants for a tablet that has additional memory. It doesn't cost $100 to go from 16Gb to 32Gb of memory, or from 64Gb to 128Gb.

How about an article as to why Apple is offshoring engineering jobs to China now?

Do we really lack the talent and skill here, and based on any number of technical sources, Foxconn's ability to manufacture is not exactly solid...

Amongst other considerations.

Uh, you don't keep up, do you? Apple is already producing Mac Mini's here and an iMac model. They are at least making an effort. Where are Dell and HP?
