The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix is a Windows 8 convertible Ultrabook, which is hybrid device of a new kind.
The ThinkPad Helix is a touchscreen tablet that is also a laptop, but its 11.6-inch display screen pops off and can be reattached forwards or backwards. CNET senior editor Dan Ackerman calls it a sort of "kiosk mode," which is nice for presentations.
The hybrid tablet features Intel's Core i7 processor, 3G/4G antenna options, an NFC chip and a spill resistant keyboard. The device is 20 millimeters thick and weighs less than 2 pounds.
According to CNET, Lenovo ThinkPad Helix is be available in February with prices starting at $1,499.
Lenovo also announced the IdeaPad Yoga 11-inch convertible Windows 8 laptop. Its name suggests the laptop is an acrobatic computer -- and it is. Like its predecessor, the 13-inch IdeaPad Yoga, which was unveiled at CES 2012, the laptop folds to become a touchscreen tablet.
The IdeaPad Yoga features an Nvidia quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 2 gigabytes of DDR3 RAM, 64GB of storage and a 720p-capable camera. The device is 0.6 inches thick and weights about 2.8 pounds. According to CNET, the IdeaPad Yoga 11-inch tablet will be available in December for $799.
