Nintendo Wii price drop ahead of Wii U launch

Nintendo announced Monday that it is dropping the price of its Wii video game console in preparations for the holidays, and ahead of the launch of its new Wii U console.
The company is releasing a new Wii bundle that will cost about $130, down from $150, and will include a black Wii console, Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. The package will be available in the U.S. by Oct. 28.

Nintendo recently announced a brand new console called the Wii U.
The video game console features a touch screen controller, called the GamePad, that can switch to become a handheld device. The Wii U supports 1080p high-definition displays and is backwards compatible with all Wii games.
The Wii U will launch with games like, "New Super Mario Bros. U," "Assassin's Creed III" and "Just Dance 4."
The Nintendo Wii was released in November 2006 for $250. It was widely considered a crossover success that attracted everyone from hardcore gamers to families. The Wii U will go on sale on Nov. 18 and will start at about $300. A "deluxe" version will sell for $350.

- I was planning on upgrading to this console for my kids but judging from pre-sale prices at Walmart.com, they have definitely priced themselves out of my market. We'll stick with the Wii we have.

- We have had a Wii for about 3 years now. Don't think that we have used it more than 10 times total
