Fans of Kellogg's Special K Red Berries may want to check the UPC code on their cereal boxes.

The company announced on its website last Friday that it had recalled lots of three sizes of the cereals because they may be contaminated with glass fragments.

The packages affected by the recall are:

*11.2 ounce packages, with a UPC Proof of Purchase Code: 38000 59923

  • Better if Used Before: DEC 02 2013 KNC 105 00:13 through DEC 02 2013 KNC 105 02:30

*37.0 ounce packages with a UPC Proof of Purchase Code: 38000 20940

  • Better if Used Before Date: NOV 30 2013 KNB 107 17:31 through NOV 30 2013 KNB 107 20:05

*22.4 ounce twin pack with a UPC Proof of Purchase Code: 38000 78356

  • Better if Used Before Date: Nov 30 2013 KNA 105 07:00 through NOV 30 2013 KNA 105 08:51
  • Better if Used Before Date: NOV 30 2013 KNB 105 15:00 through NOV 30 2013 KNB 105 17:05

The company says that sizes other than these packages are not affected by the recall, nor are packages with the letter codes KXA, KXB or KXC which are found after the "Better if Used Before Date." No other Kellogg products have been included in the recall.

There have been no reports of injuries associated with these products, the company said.

People who have these packages could contact Kellogg's for a coupon for a replacement.

Earlier this month, Nestle Prepared Foods recalled boxes of Lean Cuisine frozen ravioli due to possible glass shards in products.

Last year, Kellogg's issued a recall of its Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size Original and Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size products due to the possibility of flexible metal mesh fragments in the products.

It is a fact that many Kellogg's products sold in the USA are marked on the side of the box as Product of Mexico. You can go to grocery stores and Walgreen's store, as examples and find the same product such as Special K with Red Berries and one day the box says Product of Mexico and other times the box only indicates the Battle Creek home of Kellogg's. If you prefer to purchase only products made in the USA, you much check the box each time you purchase to avoid accidentally purchasing those made in Mexico. I guess there must be a law, that any food products not manufactured in the U.S.A., must be marked with their country of origin. I have gone to a Walgreen's and seen some boxes of the Red Berries Special K on the same shelf but some marked "Product of Mexico" and some not marked that way, depending on the the boxes purchased by Walgreen's and when they were put out on the shelves. I know that many, if not all the Special K bars indicate that they are Products of Mexico. Also some of their different types of Raisin Bran products are labeled the same way. I am only familiar with the cereals that I purchase. I returned 8 boxes of the Red Berries cereal to my local grocery store recently because I was in a hurry, the product was on sale, and I forgot to check if the "Product of Mexico" label was on the box. BE VERY CAREFUL, about any food products purchased, regardless of the Brand Name. I have also found "Chips Ahoy" and Fig Bars made by Nabisco that show that they are Products of Mexico. If I accidentally bring them home, I return them as soon as possible. I don't trust the food regulations in Mexico. I'm also sick of seeing grocery stores that carry only tomatoes and some other vegetable that come from Mexico, as if they are not being grown in the USA and this is not just during winter months. I just have to do without the item, if only Products of Mexico are available.

Okey next time I buy a box of Kelloggs Cereal i'll check the side lable on the box to find out wheather it was made in Mexico , but I hardly doubt that is really true. But yes I will check it out anyways. But too many people just say all kinds of bad things about this company. Here is my comment to all of the A**holes that giving this company rediculous and bad ratings here is my advice for you all. " If You Do Not Like The Kelloggs Brand Of Cereals Then Don't Buy Them Then" You need to keep all of your negative inappropriate comments to yourselves cause lots of people including myself buy Kelloggs Cerals Cause They Taste Way Better Than Those Horrible Tasting Generic Store Brand Cereals. The Generic Brands Taste A Hell Of Alot Worse Than Kelloggs Does.So Take My Advice And Stop All Of Your Cry Baby Whining And Complaining. If You Have A Complaint About Kelloggs Cereals Then Contact The Company's Customer Consumer Toll Free Hotline And Voice The Comments & Concerns That You May Have About Their Products. That is why they have a toll free telephone number so you can voice your opinons that way or you can voice your opinons on their company's website on the internet on-line. But STOP YOUR CRY BABY WHINING. It Does Get Rather Old And Boring Listening To All Of Your Ball Baby Bickering. So Shut Up Your Damned ******** & Complaining .

Yeah my friend I do hear you on that. I understand that you are frustrated. I too am a huge Kelloggs cereal fan too and that happens to be one of my favorite cereals too. I like all of Kelloggs cereals myself cause alot of those generic store brand cereals taste rather nasty or at least to me they do . And yes I will agree with you on something right now . If you're like me at all when you look at all of these massive recalls that we have been having . It is no wonder why our economy here in the USA is so bad that is one item that helped drag our country's economy downhill. But then there was alot of other things too that caused our county's economy to collapse it is no wonder why our recession got so outta control. And I do agree with you that is why our companies are losing billion, millions and gazillions of dollars . But recalling these items now will help to prevent mega dollar lawsuits for these multi-billion dollar companies. Even though they have alot of money to pay out for compensation to us the consumers .

Updated ingredient list:

Rice, whole grain wheat, sugar, wheat bran, freeze-dried strawberries, brown sugar syrup, soluble wheat fiber, contains 2% or less of salt, malt flavoring, may contain glass fragments.

Wonder how long it will take them to update the info on their website.

My Friend I Do Not Know How Long It Will Take Them To Update Their Website. That is up to the company's president, vice president and all of their CEO's to decide on a time frame that it will take to update the info on their website. Hey I understand these situations can get rather frustrating . Don't feel bad lots of us consumers do by alot of Kelloggs cereals here in the United States of America. We the consumers are helping to drive up our US economy this way by purchasing Kelloggs products . You got to look at it like this we are buying their products from Kelloggs and yes it is bringing oureconomy out of a bad recession .Sure this mess will not get solved just over one or two nights we all do realize that . But hey I know these recalls are annoying for lots of us consumers yes. But it is better if these recalls are made now instead of way too late . You do realize that don't you ?

Huh oh-k that does make some sense to me. Here some people are seriously worried about glass fragments that is understandable. But stop and look at something else interesting that is shocking. For example look at our multi- vitimins that alot of us take they contain metals in them . Multi Vitimn that contain A Thru Z like centrum . Some people think that these metals ar dangerous to human health but they really are not that dangerous if you do not over take to many of those multi vitimins all at one time , like once a day that is not dangerous at all of course unless you happen to be allergic to some of those types of metals in those multi vitimins . But yes I understand your concerns though . I'm sure Kelloggs is doing everything that they can to correct this problem before it gets to the point of lawsuits against the company.I have faith that Kelloggs will do everything that they can do to make things right with the consumers to get this problem fixed . Cause I know that Kelloggs is a very good and reliable company on keeping their word about correcting this matter volunteerly without any force needed by the FDA . If Kelloggs does this all on their own and it does not have to be done with force from the food and drug administration then this is a good thing .

Love the brand - the regular version of the brand, that is. Never could trust the flavored angle to the K.

And as far as berries go - the only game in town would be Frankenberry.
Whomever invented a hybrid of the kids flavors and monsters also invented Atari 2600 in my book.

More to the point:

Offshored to a country where there are no regulations, so the company that puts out overpriced commercials with the chintzy piano music and braying to us about how oh-so-caring they are can pocket the difference in "cost" as "profit"...

At least Kellogg's is putting out a recall. Probably because of a fear of a class action suit, but wasn't there a time when congress was considering making it impossible for people to do class action suits? Get rid of that and these two-bit companies could freely put in as much glass as they'd like and get away with murder if they could.
