PARIS A French soldier has been killed in combat in Mali, the third to die in the military campaign to retake the north of the African country from jihadists.

Parachutist Corporal Cedric Charenton was killed Saturday night in an assault in the Adrar des Ifoghas mountains, where the jihadists have retrenched as French troops have swept through the country's north.

Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Saturday night's fighting was some of the most violent since the campaign began on Jan. 11. The 26-year-old had already served in Afghanistan, Gabon and New Caledonia.

While the French initially hoped the intervention would end quickly, officials now say French troops will stay in Mali at least until July, as fighting intensifies.

So no one is allowed to criticize America? We cannot try to make it better? Is that it?

And yes, wealthy Americans who do not pay their fair share should be slammed. Since 1981, when Reagan catered to them, and even more so since 2001 when Bush gave them bigger breaks, the wealth and income of America has been going more and more to them while the rest of us lose income and lose wealth.

Bush was perhaps the most stupid president we have had in a long, long time. He was generally well intentioned and he was not a bigot. But he was stupid. Cheney made most of the critical decisions, and he was definitely NOT well intentioned.

America needs to get a lot better and your bashing of anyone who points out the faults of America does not help make the country better.
