Israel: Syria tanks enter Golan Heights DMZ

CBA/AP

JERUSALEM Israel's military says three Syrian tanks have entered the demilitarized zone in the Golan Heights.

A military spokeswoman says Israel complained to the U.N. peacekeeping force in the area after the tanks entered Saturday.

The spokeswoman, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with military protocol, did not elaborate.

The relatively low-key response suggested Israel did not see the armor as an immediate threat.

The Israeli news site Ynet said the tanks and two armored personnel carriers drove a few miles away from Israeli military positions.

There are concerns in Israel that violence from Syria's civil war could spill over a long-quiet frontier. Misfired Syrian shells have exploded inside Israel on several occasions.

Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Mideast war and annexed it.

Let the Israelis handle it.

Oh, right, they need others to hold their hand.

Leave them to rot, or blow each other up, along with the rest of the Middle East.

To this day, the only nation in the middle east that has any record of attacking american military forces is..............ISRAEL with the Liberty incident.

The USS Cole was attacked during the Clinton admin. by terrorists representing extreme religion.

The Palestinians have been cooped up for far too long as well Chuck.
They are denied ports and free access since. They have been denied defenses and when the manage to build a backyard rocket, they are accused of terror.
This is not an obsolete subject CHUCK.

During this six day war, the USS Liberty was attacked by the combined forces of Israel in unmarked fighters from the air and from the Israeli Navy at sea in international waters.
34 seamen died and 171 wounded including the captain. The captain was given the Medal of Honor for actions in "VietNam?".......something here stinks to heaven.
It is a coverup what happened, but the crew seems to have it, Israeli unmarked jets attacked the ship to involve the US in war and blame Egypt for the attack.
The Liberty sent out distress messages to their fleet command who sent out interceptors to aid them, but the White House, particularly McNamara turned the jets around and ordered radio blackout.
Fortunately for the Liberty, a submarine recorded the events along with a soviet trawler that entered the area of the attacks as well.
She made it to port all on her own with dead and injured crewmen. No thanks to the President, the Secretary of Defense, or the Pentagon.
The crew was ordered to keep the attack secret under the penalty of prosecution, persecution and harassment of family.
It was a betrayal of our constitution and treason covered up in history.

And yet LBJ finished out his term unscathed as did all the rest of the government officials. It's not the Israelis I worry about; it's my own government and the whack job Islamic extremeists. Speaking of cover ups by our government, ever wonder why no plane wreakage was found at the Pentagon on 9/11 or with all the cameras around the building, not a single one captured footage of a plane hitting the Pentagon? It seems to me a building like the Pentagon would have tons of cameras, yet there is no footage...hmmmm. Our government has been killing U.S. citizens for decades then pointing the fingers elsewhere. Where do you think the Israelis learned such tactics?

Israel had planned the attacks that launched the 6 day war and the beginning of controversy that has lasted generations. As a matter of fact the pilots were specifically trained like the Japanese did for the pearl harbor attack.

The UN has never supported the Israeli attacks and annexation.
