Cow facing slaughter kills Eid celebrant
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip A Gaza health official says that a panicking cow has killed a Palestinian man who was trying to slaughter the beast during the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha.
Muslims around the world slaughter sheep, cows and goats during the four-day holiday to commemorate the sacrifice by their forefather Abraham. But accidents are common as people frequently buy animals to slaughter at home instead of relying on professional butchers.
Official Ashraf al-Kidra said Saturday that another 150 more people were hospitalized in Gaza with knife wounds or other injuries caused by animals attacking butchers or bystanders.
In Gaza, impoverished families scrimp all year to pay for part of a sheep or cow. Many also distribute the meat to even poorer families, giving the celebration a sense of communal solidarity.

- Clearly they are not just evil, but also stupid. I betcha Israel can blow up entire Palestinian neighborhoods and herds of cattle while wearing a blindfold, and still find time to exploit western racism and fear in an effort rally support for yet another war with another strategically positioned Islamic country that allegedly may possibly be in possession of the technology for nuclear enrichment, and only happens to be full of oil, and is not Saudi Arabia.

- No one wants to see an innocent person die needlessly, however the cow had a right to defend herself. I haven't eaten meat for nearly 30 years and am much healthier. The world would be a better, less-polluted place if there were less meat-eating. There's no reason an animal has to sacrifice its life so you can have lunch. There are at least 50,000 non-meat items in the average American grocery store. Other countries have plenty of non-meat options, too.
