2 U.S. troops, 2 Afghan policemen killed in fighting

KABUL, Afghanistan Insurgents on Saturday killed two American troops in eastern Afghanistan, an area that has seen heavy fighting in recent months, the U.S. military said.

No other information about the deaths was disclosed, pending notification of family members.

But a U.S. military official said two U.S. special operations forces were killed by small arms fire in Wardak province, southwest of Kabul.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to disclose information about the deaths.

So far this year, 296 international troops, including at least 257 Americans, have been killed in Afghanistan.

In the south, an Afghan policeman was killed and another was wounded when a remote-controlled bomb planted on a motorbike was detonated in Sangin district of Helmand province, according to provincial spokesman Ahmad Zarak.

In neighboring Kandahar province, a roadside bomb killed another Afghan policeman in Kandahar city, said provincial spokesman Ahmad Jawed Faisal.

I have read several comments you've made on this post and I have two things to say. Do you consider yourself an American? Do you understand that people can support troops without taking a stand on the war, at all? You don't have to agree with the war, or support the troops, but I will say this, I pray that if you are an American you remember that your right to proove your uninteligence is defended by those troops.

The fact is our military has been compromised because of this Muslim president who has not taking seriously the importants of having a powerfull military. Two more Americans died for special interests in Washington D.C. When are people going to realize that we have no more right to be there than the Russians did back in the 1980's? The only difference between them and us is the motivation. The Russians were motivated by their ideology whereas the NATO forces are motivated by Afghanistan's vast undergroud mineral resources!

Gee Marcie, as an American I'd rather speak for myself. No, I do not believe in this obnoxious war as most other Americans do. It is simply wrong to take over another country and that's all there is to it!
