Iranians attack French embassy over prophet film

TEHRAN, Iran Dozens of Iranians angered over an anti-Islam film made in the U.S. and by caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad published in a weekly in France have attacked the French Embassy in Tehran.

Shop vendors and residents in the area said protesters smashed a police guard post outside the embassy and a bulletin board at the embassy wall.

They said about 30 protesters were arrested following the attack on Tuesday morning. The witnesses spoke on condition of anonymity, fearing for their own safety.

Since the film's appearance, outraged Muslims around the world have rallied against it.

Iranians have held regular peaceful protests denouncing the film and the caricatures.

State TV showed several rallies in cities around Iran on Tuesday but the embassy protest was apparently not officially endorsed and was not mentioned.

This article should not have even been published. Let's see there were a few dozen protestors, which is mentioned in the article. A few is maybe 3 dozen. Now Tehran has approximately 8,429,807 people, and less than 40 people protested. That means .00047% of the population demonstrated. A few nut cases or the government staged it. This article isn' worth commenting on. Surely, there is more important news to be found in the Middle East, or this is pure propaganda. I leave it to the readers to decide.

The irony is that the amateur film, produced in July (and just in Sept. caused supposed riots) has never been released. A trailer was released, and it is very bad acting, that was picked up by groups like the Muslim Brotherhood to use as an excuse to riot and push the agenda of "peace" to all dhimmi's who won;t revert back to Islam. The Western nations would be better served realizing Islam has stuck these people in the 6th century, and not perpetrate the falsehood that Islam produced anything other than death and destruction. The magnificent art and basis for algebraic math was formed by Arabic and Persian cultures way before the slavery of Islam was brought upon these unfortunate souls. The only people who use any type of modern technology are younger generations who have little to no beef with the West and terrorists. The US had a golden opportunity to support the revolution of the younger Westernized generation in Iran 2009 , but failed miserably to support the people that would have been friendlier to the West. I could not care less about the oil, but subjecting people to the barbarism of Islam is flat out wrong.

Allow me to say something to you: if someone insulted Jesus or Moses, would you not be out there rioting?

Bottom line is that the only reason that Christians and Jews don't do this is because:

1. Both those religions tell you to 'turn the other cheek', unlike Islam.
2. Both those religions are older than Islam.

This I do not understand. Why don't the Iranians protest the Americans? After all, it's the right-wing thugs in Washington who covet Iranian oil more than the French do. Besides, all this Iran bashing needs to end since the people who are ranting against the Iranians are only displaying their ignorance! Haven't we done enough harm to that country? I think so.

Quincy... I have NO IDEA where you're coming from, and it doesn't sound like you do either. First off, you do realize that the current administration cannot be classified as "right wing", don't you? Secondly, you do realize that there is a significant portion of the Iranian population that would like nothing more than to overthrow the theocratic dictatorship that they live under, don't you? Lastly, you do realize that there are legitimate reasons that we are imposing sanctions on Iran to get them to stop their pursuit of nuclear weapons for their expressed purpose of annihilating Israel, don't you?
