(AP) WASHINGTON - Coalition military authorities in Afghanistan say the insurgents who attacked a British airfield in southwestern Afghanistan on Friday, killing two U.S. Marines, wore U.S. Army uniforms and destroyed six Harrier fighter jets.

They said in a statement Saturday that about 15 insurgents carried out the attack, describing the attack as well coordinated by insurgents who were "well equipped, trained and rehearsed." Fourteen of the 15 were killed. One was captured.

They said attackers penetrated the base's perimeter and were armed with automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenade launchers and suicide vests. Besides destroying six planes, they destroyed three refueling stations on the base and damaged six aircraft hangars.

Coalition authorities have not yet identified the two Marines killed. Eight military members and one civilian contractor were also injured in the assault.

This situation here is not winnable with conventional troops, special ops and good intel and drones are the answer. Waste of time, people and money. Pull out today if not sooner.

You can't 'win' the situation with special ops and drones either, because you don't have a clue what you actually want to achieve! I agree, confine all troops to base from today, and start shipping them all home.

Six Harriet planes? Maybe our soldiers think that Afghanistan is vacation site and seemingly they are not using the amount of awareness required in a deployment environment?

Six Harrients destryed. Two Americans killed. That installation commander better come up with some good explainig as security planning for this site.

IAMCS - If you were in charge of interrogating the captured man, what would you do?

IAMCS - Just as I thought, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SAY!!!!! Your name suggests you are/were in the Marine Corps. If so, that makes a lot of sense. You have mindless racism and aggression, and nothing else to offer.
