Police worry gynecologist Dr. Nikita Levy filmed underage patients
TOWSON, Md. Police say former patients of an ex-Johns Hopkins gynecologist believed to have committed suicide were violated by him with a video camera. The invasion of privacy could be worse than first reported, CBS Baltimore station WJZ-TV reports.
Numerous patients at Johns Hopkins may be victims, and some of them are voicing disgust and outrage. Meanwhile, investigators have growing concerns and are checking to see if Dr. Nikita Levy may have recorded underage patients. Baltimore City police have set up a tipline.
Federal authorities are actively involved in the investigation of Levy. The gynecologist was fired earlier this month and was accused of secretly taking pictures and video of his patients during examinations.
"I just can't believe it," said patient Tracy Williams. "What was he doing with the pictures and video?"
That's a big unknown. Some gynecology fetish porn claims to feature videos by real doctors.
In a statement, Johns Hopkins calls the invasion of privacy intolerable, saying Levy's behavior violates their code of conduct and everything it stands for.
"Dr. Levy was the sweetest person. This is all- this is just shocking," patient Jessica Wims said.
Wims said Levy saved her life when she suffered complications from childbirth. She's outraged with Johns Hopkins for failing to notify patients when the investigation started two weeks ago.
"To find out the way we did, that hurt. Hopkins didn't send out anything. I had to find out on the news, from family. It's not fair. I've been going to him 11 years," she said.
Levy is believed to have committed suicide this week at his home in Towson. Patients may never get the answers they want.
"I don't know if one of the videos have me on there or not. I don't know, but I can't help from sitting here not thinking about it," Williams said.
Legal experts expect this investigation to lead to numerous civil lawsuits.

Also I have read that , very often, women prefer male gynecologists. The reasons really run every gamut : It seems that some women believe that other women cannot be good at jobs outside of the home and the best doctors are male even the ones who tend to female patients. Some women even seem to feel that if they are going to be stared-at while unclothed it is more natural that it is a man than a woman. Of course some women think that it is more odd for a woman to want to be a gyn than for a man to want to be a gyn. Some women rather be taken care of by a big "strong" man.
Sometimes women believe that a male gyn is indeed giving them attention in a "flirt-ish" way and want such a thing. Sometimes a woman does not care to be treated in such a way or thought in such a way of itself, but looks at it as an irony and thinks that only a doctor who takes such interest in a patient will be the best doctor. If you ever heard a woman say "who else but a man would make the best gynecologist" then this is the mindset.
Sometimes women think of it in a reverse irony. They think that a man is too into cars and mechanics to be interested in romance and would make a better gynecologist because he only thinks of a female like a car with parts that need to be fixed.
So no matter what, it is always degrading. Believe it or not, going to a gynecologist , male or female, is not as necessary as it is hyped up to be and quite a few women opt out of "yearly exams" and are better off for it. Very often, women are just scared into thinking that they can get cancer or other diseases if they don't go to a gyn regularly and this is very much a scare tactic of the medical establishment to make money off of knowledgeable people. Sometimes minor findings during a gyn exam are treated like a medical crisis and a patient would be put through more exams some of which use radiation and can cause cancer and then it is said that the "exams" found out the cancer when in reality it resulted in it.
More women need to consider not going to a gyn at all.
