TORRANCE, Calif. Federal court records filed Monday indicate that the former LAPD police officer accused of killing three people may have tried to flee to Mexico with the help of a friend.

The documents, which include an arrest affidavit, were filed with the U.S. District Court on Monday, reports CBS station KCBS in Los Angeles.

"There is probable cause to believe that Dorner has moved and traveled in interstate and foreign commerce from California to Mexico with the intent to avoid prosecution," an investigator with the U.S. Marshals said in the documents.

The records detail the 33-year-old's alleged movements following the murders of Monica Quan and her fiance, Keith Lawrence on Feb. 3 and Riverside Police Officer Michael Crain on Feb. 7.

Dorner is wanted as a suspect in all three crimes.

Officials say Dorner may have tried to flee to Mexico with the help of an unidentified associate who lives in the Big Bear area.

Last week, authorities tracked the associate's movements and surveyed his property, during which, they discovered Dorner's burned out truck nearby.

New surveillance video obtained by entertainment website TMZ.com Monday reportedly depicts Dorner at a South Bay store just days before the murders.

The security footage reportedly shows Dorner purchasing scuba equipment at the Torrance Sports Chalet just two days before the Irvine murders.

The Los Angeles Police Department is not confirming that the man in the video is Dorner.

Police think that equipment was possibly purchased to help in his flight to Mexico.

On Feb. 6, Dorner reportedly tried to steal a boat in the Port of San Diego, but was unsuccessful.

The federal documents also state that on the same day "an agent found Dorner's personal belongings, including his wallet and identification cards, near the US/Mexico border at the San Ysidro point of entry."

U.S. Marshals say there is no further evidence indicating that Dorner is in Mexico.

I have a question for the LAPD and the entire media. Do you support the payments to the State employed judges from Los Angeles County? Do you feel there may be a bias in the decision of judge Yafee knowing that he received over $700,000.00 from the County of Los Angeles. Do you feel that the RETRO ACTIVE IMMUNITY FROM PROSECUTION that the judges received for the illegal payments restored due process to the courts? SBX211
Do you feel that Chis Dorner received a fair and unbiased decision from judge Yafee.

The LAPD have no clue where this guy is hiding out. He has spread their resources from LA to Mexico, which creates huge pockets where he can just chill out and plan his next move.

Just from watching movies about situations like this, I think he is going concentrate on one key target. He will take out that person and perhaps a few of the protectors. This will cause the cops to double the number of guards on each remaining target, which will require pulling more resources away from searching for him. He will then rinse and repeat.

Dorner/2016.

Sure, Mexico would be a logical destination for someone of Hispanic descent, not for Dorner.

Surley the police and FBI would have put stake outs at the Mexican borders
long ago when he first started running. Or would that have been too obvious?

He has to be smarter than to go to Mexico, he might as well walk through the streets of downtown Los Angeles. He would stand out like a sore thumb in Mexico and with a million dollar bounty on his head, he would not last down there for a minute. LAPD Officers are required to qualify with their firearms every other month so most are very good at hitting what they shoot at. Dorner possibly got hit in the exchange of gunfire with LAPD Officers in Corona on Friday and if that's the case, i agree that his remains might not be discovered in Big Bear until the snow thaws in the Spring. Just my wild guest but we wont know for sure until he's found either dead or alive.

The LAPD fired and hit that small truck those two Asian ladies were driving at least 30 times, and only hit the old lady once. They are lousy shots, especially since the old ladies didn't fire back. Had Dorner been in that truck, he would have jumped out and killed both of those cops.

He is using misdirection against the cops, to spread out their numbers, and it is working. It's easy to drive into Mexico, since they don't normally check vehicles driving South. He would have a difficult time trying to reenter the U.S., since every person is scrutinized when they get to the border gate. He wouldn't be able to kill more cops if he went there.

They have no clue where he is.

If someone actually helped Dorner escape; and if this person is identified, this person should bee charged with aiding and abetting as well as the murders of those Dorner killed and any others killed by Dorner in the future.

Dorner has obviously lost it completely; and so has the person/s who helped him escape.

Maximum term of incarceration; no plea bargaining and no possibility of parole.!!

For the first time yesterday it was mentioned on the news that Donner may have not left the Big Bear area, his plan most likely changed when his vehicle broke down. They will most likely find him during the spring thaw.
