LOS ANGELES Authorities are seeking a fired Los Angeles police officer suspected in the killings of two people, including a Cal State Fullerton assistant basketball coach whose father represented the suspect in front of a disciplinary board when he lost his job, police said Wednesday night.

Former LAPD officer and U.S. Navy reservist Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, is the suspect in the killings of Monica Quan, 28, and her 27-year-old fiance, Keith Lawrence, who were found shot to death in their car at a parking structure Sunday night, Irvine police Chief David L. Maggard said at a news conference.

Police said Dorner implicated himself in the killings with a multi-page "manifesto" that he wrote that included threats against several people, but would give no further details on the document or its contents.

CBS Los Angeles station KCBS says that, in the rambling manifesto, Dorner wrote, "I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own, I'm terminating yours."

Police do not know Dorner's whereabouts, and authorities were seeking the public's help in finding the suspect.

"We have strong cause to believe Dorner is armed and dangerous," Maggard said, adding that the LAPD and FBI are assisting in the case, and anyone who sees the suspect should immediately call 911.

Autopsies showed both victims were killed by multiple gunshot wounds in the parking structure at their condominium in Irvine, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said earlier Wednesday.

Lawrence, the other victim, was a public safety officer at the University of Southern California.

The killings brought mourning and disbelief at three college campuses, Fullerton, USC, and Concordia University, where the two met when they were both students and basketball players.

Dorner was with the department from 2005 until 2008, when he was fired for making false statements.

Quan's father, Randal Quan, a former LAPD captain who became a lawyer in retirement, represented Dorner in front of the Board of Rights, a tribunal that ruled against Dorner at the time of his dismissal, LAPD Capt. William Hayes told The Associated Press Wednesday night.

Randal Quan, who the LAPD said was the first Chinese-American captain in department history, retired in 2002. He later served as chief of police at Cal Poly Pomona and went on to practice law.

Police said Dorner's manifesto included threats against members of the LAPD.

"We are looking at the manifesto and will do an assessment in terms of the threat against those listed in it, and determine what level of protection each of them will need," Hayes said.

Police said he may be driving a blue, 2005 Nissan Titan pickup truck and his last known address was in La Palma, Calif., in northern Orange County near Fullerton.

According to documents from a court of appeals hearing in October 2011, Dorner was fired from the LAPD after he made a complaint against his field training officer, Sgt. Teresa Evans, saying in the course of arrest she kicked suspect Christopher Gettler, a schizophrenic with severe dementia.

Dorner denied the allegations, KCBS says.

Following an investigation, Dorner was fired for making false statements.

Richard Gettler, the schizophrenic man's father, gave testimony that supported Dorner's claim. After his son was returned on July 28, 2007, Richard Gettler asked "if he had been in a fight because his face was puffy" and his son responded that he was kicked twice in the chest by a police officer, he testified.

CBS is hiding the "manifesto."

Must be something politically incorrect in there. I'm sure they will censor, like the good Pravda they are.

Nothing like CBS and the "managed news."

Woman Sgt kicks sick kid in FACE 2x. Good man Dorner (now killer) files complaint against his Sgt (she kicks kid in face) and Woman Sgt get's the good man-Dorner (now sour killer) fired for "turning in bad sgt/officer". She is the cause of his termination. X-LAPD now Attorney that should represent Dorner does a KRAPPY job being loyal to LAPD vs. his client Dorner. After the big bad system "stiffs" Dorner, Dorner snaps and says: Well with all this MILITARY & LAPD TRAINING, BEING 100% GOOD AND BEING SHAFTED BY LAPD, MY FEMALE SGT & MY X-LAPD ATTORNEY.... HE CONCLUDES= ***** THEM ALL. I'LL USE MY FED+LAPD TRAINING TO EVEN THE BAD DEAL! I blame the Female Sgt kicking the sick kid, the Attorney and the others that sided with the "BIG BAD CORRUPT LAPD SYSTEM" vs. REAL ETHICAL LAWS OF SOCIETY. I'm sorry but Los Angeles is a Gutter sick city. I have had many problems with City & County Employees being rotten and corrupt! I have had many problems with citizens in Los Anageles County & City. I stay out of Los Angeles County. It's a spit bucket of flies & maggots, human unethical trash and mean corrupt people! FACT of society.

...work hard, pay taxes every week. legally marry a woman from international territory, we pay numerous fees, obtain legal status for her to stay in country... she SURRENDERS by signing a document for any federal financial aid - w.i.c., student aid. food stamps; she will pay taxes immediately.

A person pays no taxes, has 5 children irresponsibly, has no income - (or steals) more income taxes than my story - gets food stamps numerously, federal gov't checks monthly, gets as much student aid as completion, would live off of w.i.c. but gets so much in food stamps chooses not to use it.

The system of America is in shut-down mode.

Ok, so all you anti-gun control people want more control... BUT WHO IS GOING TO IMPLEMENT IT even if stricter laws are passed? I saw a headline yesterday that said cops are trying to follow up on gun control issues but they're understaffed and don't have TIME.

If everybody wants this much intervention you're not only going to have to pass some laws, you're also going to pay for clerical staff and police officers to enforce the laws. At a time when the economy is down and police departments are being cut back to the skinny because of it!!

None of you make any sense on this gun issue in my opinion.

Chicago DOES have strict gun control laws, and yet they currently have the worst problem with gun related murders than anywhere in the country. So gun control is not working for them. NOW, they're wondering if this is more of a moral values problem than anything else. Well DUH.

How many of you are willing to go to church, read your Bible, pray and generally get your lives ship-shape -- for the better good of our society? Anybody? ANYBODY? I'm serious here, this is not a joke.

We should abolish DMV as well! All the money that can be saved let people do what hey want, no oversight, no control. Let the children fend for themselves and tell their parents that we Americans the richest country in the world can figure out how to control weapons of mass destruction in our own country.

Boston has a big problem thanks to all its neighboring counties and big cities that have NO control. Do you believe that anyone wanting to shoot someone in Boston will buy a gun in Boston when you can buy it freely not far from Boston. There is no "sort of control"

Yet another fine and law abiding citizen that kills an innocent person. NRA do not agree to a registry on gun owners so even IF the fine and law abiding citizen becomes unstable no-one will know if he/she had a gun until AFTER some innocent person is killed.
