WEST JORDAN, Utah A Utah school district has cancelled a high school play that uses Elvis Presley's music after a complaint about a sexually suggestive song.

Jordan School District officials in suburban Salt Lake City announced plans Wednesday to scrap Herriman High School's production of "All Shook Up," saying it could be offensive.

It was not immediately clear which song prompted the decision.

District spokeswoman Sandy Riesgraf says a person approached the district and complained about the play, which is loosely based on William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night."

Riesgraf says administrators reviewed the script and determined it didn't meet standards put in place in August after another high school play came under scrutiny.

The Deseret News reports students had already started rehearsing the play, which was scheduled for February. Riesgraf says a replacement will be selected.

Here are the scandalous lyrics that make me blush. Please don't read unless you are an adult. Definitely need to keep this salacious stuff away from the kiddies.

A well I bless my soul
What's wrong with me?
I'm itching like a man on a fuzzy tree
My friends say I'm actin' wild as a bug
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!

My hands are shaky and my knees are weak
I can't seem to stand on my own two feet
Who do you thank when you have such luck?
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!

Please don't ask me what's on my mind
I'm a little mixed up, but I'm feelin' fine
When I'm near that girl that I love best
My heart beats so it scares me to death!

She touched my hand what a chill I got
Her lips are like a volcano that's hot
I'm proud to say she's my buttercup
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!

My tongue get tied when I try to speak
My insides shake like a leaf on a tree
There's only one cure for this body of mine
That's to have the girl that I love so fine!

She touched my hand what a chill I got
Her lips are like a volcano that's hot
I'm proud to say she's my buttercup
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!
I'm all shook up

The high school kids are laughing at the adults!! By the time , they get to high school, their hormones have kicked in and they are thinking of SEX!! Censorship at high school will actually make teenagers more rebellious, since that is the age of "rebellion" . The parent/child sex discussion and adults setting an example should have been done before adolescent so the child knows what you expect from them before adolescence. Once they reach adolescence, TV, media, internet will expose the child to many challenges. Censorship for young children makes sense but by the time they get to high school, it is TOO LATE to censor, parents are just fooling themselves and it makes them look foolish!!

In Utah they don't have the problem with school shootings or gang-bangers, so they get to worry about silly stuff like how racy and suggestive the King still is. It's quaint.

I Kissed a Girl was written and performed by Jill Sobule back in the 90's. Katy Perry only did a remake.

If they were complaining about some filthy rap song or some Lady Gaga song like "I Kissed A Girl And I Liked It", that promotes homosexuality, I could understand their complaining. I know that Elvis was considered racy back in the day but compared to the singers of today he was squeaky clean!

The Katy Perry version is a cover. I Kissed a Girl is a 90's song.

I suggest researching the topic before discussing. It makes your argument much more valid, especially where religion is concerned. It is sad when uninformed individuals go straight for the stereotypes.
