WASHINGTON U.S. military officials are investigating the apparent suicide of a Navy SEAL commander in Afghanistan.

Navy SEAL Cdr. Job W. Price, 42, of Pottstown, Pa., died Saturday of a non-combat-related injury while supporting stability operations in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan.

A U.S. military official said the death "appears to be the result of suicide." The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the death is still being investigated.

"The Naval Special Warfare family is deeply saddened by the loss of our teammate," said Capt. Robert Smith, Commander of Naval Special Warfare Group Two, which manages all Virginia-based Navy SEAL teams. "We extend our condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and NSW community during this time of grieving."

"As we mourn the loss and honor the memory of our fallen teammate, those he served with will continue to carry out the mission," Smith added Sunday.

A U.S. military official confirmed Price was from Virginia Beach, Va.-based SEAL Team 4, which is part of the mission to train Afghan local police to stave off the Taliban in remote parts of Afghanistan. Price is survived by a wife and a daughter.

Any suicide is a tragedy, but for someone who has successfully traveled this man's journey, it is heart rending. Pressures of combat, command, sleep deprivation, ... we may never know. A great loss.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and the the special operations community world wide. God bless.

Instead of going to war after 9/11 the money would have been better spent simply focusing on protecting our own borders and people instead. The cost of war is simply too great. Look at all that we have lost in the past 12 years. Where did it get us? Are we better off? History tells the truth---we are not a peaceful country. If we were, we wouldn't be always fighting in these wars to begin with. Maybe the ultra rich are profiting from these wars? Who knows? Are their children's lives being sacrificed over there? I doubt it. We need to find a better way than living like this.

Probably did himself in because his conscience finally got to him. The US is over there slaughtering innocents in there homes, schools and mosques based on US false-flag lies.

That would be, "...slaughtering innocents in THEIR homes ...". My bad.

What's the MOST overused word in the modern history of the United States? "Hero".

I'm SICK of the word "hero" being handed out in the US like nickel-candy.

I suppose that very few if any of you ever read Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. I can't help wondering if this Navy Commander didn't kill himself for the same reason that cop Javert did in Les Miserables. I guess that none of you people here have any clue of what I'm driving at, do you? Such intellectual pygmies we have here!

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that something's seriously wrong with the mission when Navy seals start terminating themselves.

Look, we don't belong in Afghanistan anymore. Our objective has been reached and we are not going to change the mindset of the Afghan people - they will always be at war with their different factions - leave them to their country and let them commit bloodshed among themselves. Our real enemy is Pakistan who knowingly harbored Osama Bin Laden to begin with. Time to pull out our troops and American contractors out of Afghanistan as well any American involvement in Pakistan - as well cut off all funding to these countries. With the fiscal cliff falloff that occurs in January, its time we close the books on Afghanistan and Pakistan and concentrate on America first. The munitions makers have made enough money off the blood of our military service personnel and we need to realize that just because the military war would be over, the costs will still be high as we deal with both the physical and mental issues our troops must deal with. Geez, better than a decade...that's WAY to long a military involvement!

There is another issue, we need to send our troops where they will do the most good - that is protecting our southern borders from the insurgence of violent drug gangs which cross into the United States as well illegal gun sales to these gangs. We can also use the military expertise in repairing the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy - this is where the money needs to be spent. The war in Afghanistan needs to wrap up and I can't think of a better time than now!

Navy Seal Commander Job W. Price puts another face on the situation of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PDST) which is very real and needs to be addressed! Many service people have done a top notch job both here and abroad - however, those abroad need to be brought home NOW! The war hawks who have no blood in the fighting over in Afghanistan are way to quick to put our sons and daughters in danger over there - yet have few of their young in Afghanistan - usually they get the safer jobs away from the action! When even a Commander like Price considers it too depressing to continue - well all I can say - lets bring them home!

There are more suicides in the US military than we know. It's a crying shame. I feel badly for the families in Connecticut, but what about the families of the military personnel? It's time the people in this country get fed up with their loved ones sacrificing their lives for what? No wonder so many suicides in the military! Is it worth it? The cost goes on and on and on, even after they get back here, in the form of PTSD, broken families, lost arms and legs, brain injuries, etc. How can this be justified? Human beings weren't meant to witness the carnage that goes on in war. To hear of a human being of his caliber ending his life that way is just plain tragic. His family will never be the same. May God give them the strength to endure.

'Baghdadshere', you're sick - Obama didn't get us into the mess - President George W. Bush and his gang of misfits did! Obama has been trying to get us out - he kept his promise of getting us out of Iraq and is working to get us out of Afghanistan.
