LONGMONT, Colo. Four people were found dead Tuesday in Colorado after a woman called police to report a shooting and was apparently shot to death while she was on the phone.

Weld County sheriff's spokesman Tim Schwartz says dispatchers heard the woman who called 911 scream "No, no, no," and then they heard a gunshot. Schwartz says a man grabbed the phone and said he was going to kill himself, and dispatchers heard another shot.

Police: Four dead in Colo. murder-suicide

The bodies were found in a home in a subdivision east of Longmont, which is about 35 miles north of Denver.

The dead included two men and two women, including one who appeared to be in her late teens or early 20s.

Schwartz says investigators have a possible motive for the shootings, but he refused to release details.

Schwartz said he didn't think anyone escaped alive. He did not know whether all four of the people lived in the home, and he was not sure whether there had been any previous calls to police asking for help.

A handgun believed to be murder weapon was recovered. Police said numerous rounds had been fired from the gun, but further details were not available. Police said they are convinced the gunman was one of the victims.

A neighbor, Joyce Vibbert, said she heard three gunshots early Tuesday and got up to look out her bedroom window. She said she couldn't see anything, but she heard a woman screaming.

"It was just screaming. I couldn't hear what she was saying. It was just screaming," she said.

Desirae Swazoe said she awoke shortly after 4 a.m. and heard a voice shouting over and over, "Weld County Sheriff's Department! Open the back door! Do it now!"

Kathy Tubb said she heard what she thought were gunshots about 4 a.m. Tuesday and had no idea what was happening.

Tubb said when she went outside to warm up her husband's car to go to work, she saw a policeman wearing a helmet and armed with a rifle standing in the street.

Fearing there might be a gunman still on the loose, she thought, "Oh my God, how can I get back in the house before he starts shooting." She said waited until the officer left before she felt safe.

Authorities sought a search warrant to before continuing their investigation.

CBS Denver helicopter video after daybreak on Tuesday showed crime scene tape surrounding the home where the alleged murder-suicide took place. Christmas lights adorning the home were still illuminated, and there was a wreath hanging on the front of the home. A sheriff's department command post bus was parked outside.

I feel for the dispatcher. She is going to need therapy after going through a call like that.

You would think all the crazies would be dead by now? One day you feel normal, the next day you snap! Maybe the whole World is in an institution?

Sad day again, it is the unstable that are the real issue. The over ease of getting one is a different subject.

The worms are really out of the can... I can forsee many more outrages such as this in an escalating game of hellish one-upmanship.

When you see the publicity that Jared Loughner, Jimmy Holmes, Jacob Roberts and now Adam Lanza recently got it can easily be concluded that a surefire way to get attention is find some highly populated public or private space and "go Cho". Expect more of this in a maternity ward or high school graduation ceremony near you.

While gun control should be part of the conservation and ididot control definitely should be considered, there also needs to be a SERIOUS effort at making mental helth services far more accessable than at present. We spend dollars in reaction but only pennies (or less) in prevention. Time to correct that.

As with things in general, people will get desensitized, envelopes will be pushed further, and then they'll wonder what started it all... and still won't understand - or want to - upon being told. But when you're manipulated (then blamed) from all corners, who would give a damn?

The NRA members should give $10 for every person killed by one of their legal guns, then use that money to bury the dead..

Hey, Bluejacket... I don't see what possible good you demonstrating your ignorance would do for this situation. Do you often put your intelligence right out front, so the whole world can see?? You're way off base. I'm proud of the NRA. It has kept our freedoms intact for a long time, now.., and hopefully it can continue.. That reminds me... I need to send them another donation.. I'll bet you don't have any problem at all with Eric Holder's illegal gun running...

One of the gun apologists on the Fox network said that these mass killings don't usually involve more than four people as a rule. Huh!? What does that have to do with anything?

"She said waited until the officer left before she felt safe." Uh...why? Oh, right... the officer had a scary gun. Funny... I remember feeling safer when cops were around. She needs to learn the difference in the good guys and the bad guys... hiding in the shadows from a cop is a recipe for disaster.

Funny, I thought the same thing when I read that as well. Doesn't make much sense.

My thoughts exactly. She felt safer AFTER the officer left? Her reasoning is bass-ackwards.
