Also, it's been said a million times, "guns don't kill people.. people kill people". And I believe that's true too, for the most part. But life is not that cut and dried is it? I mean.. if you were to use that same exact thought process and replace a semi automatic weapon with say.. a nuclear bomb.. then are you saying it's okay for all of us to own those too? I mean, after all, they don't blow up by themselves.. PEOPLE push those buttons. And we we can't own one.. why not? Might it be because they're TOO DANGEROUS and designed to completely wipe out life as quickly as possible?
And finally, for the train of thought people keep latching onto about how drugs are illegal but people still do that anyway. So in their mind, gun control won't do any good. Others with similar thought processes say, just look at the bombing in Oklahoma.. that was made with LEGAL substances. I think these people are not seeing past the ends of their noses. Because sure, if we beef up our gun control, there will still be some people out there who will get their hands on the killing machines. (and I'm not talking about simple self protection type hand guns or hunting rifles, either.) But even if it's true that people might still illegally obtain these weapons, does that mean we have to make it easy for them?? I mean, yep.. meth labs are illegal but some idiots out there still produce meth in their basements. So based on your logic, does this mean we should legalize it? There is no black and white answer here.. but people are all very extreme for the most part. I think the best answer is gonna lie somewhere in between, the right to bear arms and gun control.
No one (except the military or police force) needs a gun that can shoot a half dozen bullets in a second. Why make it easy for crazy people to kill others at this magnitude? Bad enough that someone can bash you in the head at any given moment.. and of course there's really nothing we can do about that except be careful.. but why make it EASIER for them? But do we have the right to have a personal hand gun kept in a locked drawer in case of an intruder? Damned right we do. Do we have the right to shoot deer and other game for food? Yep.
But I really don't think we should have the right to buy a handgun without at least a small waiting period (give some crazy person 24 hours to cool down instead of blow their ex away the same day they bought the gun). And I really don't think we need super high caliber assault rifles, etc. either. Those guns are people killers. We need people protectors.. THERE IS A LINE. I pray we can all grow up, shut up, and get together long enough to find it.
Now have a tad of respect for those grieving and say a prayer that they will get the help they need and the comfort they need in this time of such heartbreaking sadness. My children and i will definitely pray for them and hope they can make it through this though i know it has to be hard and will never be fully gotten over.
My condolences to the families of this tragedy. We have been thru this too many times and we must begin to address this. However, do not expect any help from republicans as they are in the pockets of the NRA and other entities hostile to ordinary Americans. Republicans must be voted out to remove their obstruction to making progress on this and other issues. Elections have consequences, and electing republicans to control congress will result in no movement to begin to address this or other issues America so desperately needs to address.
And as for making guns illegal so the evil people of this world cant use them to kill... PEOPLE!!!! use your brains please.. Meth is not legal but its killing young people its warping their minds and bodies every day ... if someone wants to kill a bunch of little kids they will find a way. That is because guns are not what kills people, you have never in your life seen a gun walk into a crowded school or mall or theater and kill people you have seen mentally ill young men do it.
Want to make a difference stop turning your head when you see young people who kill small animals.. stop looking the other way as a man who killed small animals gets out of going to jail for molesting a child.. and then two years later he has killed a family of four to molest the younger kids without worry about being caught...when that man was a boy and killed animals for fun he should have been institutionalized. Instead it was allowed to go on and flourish until he became a full blown murderer. Why do innocent people have to die before we say no .. he is not a good person a good member of our society... he can not live among innocent people?
