NEW YORK New York City police say they've charged a nanny with murder in the stabbing deaths of two children last month.

Police finally could interview 50-year-old Yoselyn Ortega as she continues to recover from self-inflicted stab wounds. They charged her in her hospital bed Saturday night with two counts each of first- and second-degree murder.

Police say Ortega fatally stabbed 6-year-old Lucia Krim and her 2-year-old brother, Leo, on Oct. 25 in the children's Upper West Side apartment. She then stabbed herself.

A third sibling was with their mother when the killings happened. The mother returned home to discover her children dead and Ortega bleeding.

Ortega remains hospitalized under police guard

This is just so unbelievably tragic and senseless. Apparently the family tried to be real good to the nanny too, the grandma said they can't understand it.

I don't understand how someone can fall off the deep end like that, but there doesn't seem to be anything sane about this situation at all.

I'm very sorry for the family. I do pray that God will comfort them and help them find a way through this nightmare.

This is someone who the family trusted and loved with there kids and it's a tragedy where she from and why they hired her is not relevant to why this woman would do this. As a parent with a live in Nanny this cause me to not sleep for a couple nights but it's such a isolated case you have to really look at this a mental situation and has nothing to do with her job.

People with enough money to live there should pay a college graduate to take care of their children.

Lord Jesus help the mommy - she is sitting in her apartment right now contemplating her own death and unworthiness - she has to keep her strength for the remaining child - the mom will suffer from trust issues the rest of her own life- PTSD will hound her and her husband - their marriage has a fraction of a chance of surviving this - Just pray for these people - and even the nanny. That woman must have succombed to a severe mental illness - when the full weight of what she has done hits her - she will try again and again to kill herself - only prayer can help them now - but then this is the way it always is and always will be - just not everyone has to suffer in this life to this degree - complete horror. God bless this family.

I believe the murder of the CNBC executive' children was in responce to CNBC publishing an article about Spire LLC, bringing a lawsuit against the bankers regarding the fraudulent home for, llsures over the past few years. You really think the Nanny could slit her own throat?

John in Florida - dude - you need to check into the psychiatric ward right behind the nanny. Seriously - the mom stood there in the bathroom door and watched to nanny slice herself - seriously - get help.

She is beyond redemption. Lock her up forever. She will be making 5 cents an hour working in prison. If she thinks she is too good to work there, she will be making it worse for herself. I hope everyone shuns her in prison too. Even other criminals won't accept or tolerate what she's done. Bad to the core.
