MILWAUKEE A Milwaukee County jury has convicted one of Governor Scott Walker's former associates of stealing money donated to help veterans and their families.

Jurors on Friday convicted 62-year-old Kevin Kavanaugh of Cudahy of stealing more than $51,000.

Prosecutors alleged that Kavanaugh had skimmed the money from bank deposits and phony withdrawals from accounts for the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a veterans service organization. Kavanaugh was the organization's treasurer.

Kavanaugh's sentencing is scheduled for December 19.

Kavanaugh was appointed to the Veterans Service Commission by Scott Walker when he was Milwaukee County Executive.

CBS Affiliate WDJT correspondent Tiffany Tarpley asked Gov. Walker about the latest conviction in the "John Doe" probe.

"It's been clear after two years of looking at it, it's something we initiated, the district attorney looked into and they found there were individuals they brought charges against, but ultimately they've said repeatedly we're not the target, and this is another example of this."

On Thursday one of Walker's former top aides pleaded guilty to a count of felony misconduct in office in a deal with prosecutors. Kelly Rindfleisch, who served as Walker's deputy chief of staff during the Republican's tenure as Milwaukee County Executive in 2010, was accused her of working on Republican Brett Davis' lieutenant governor campaign on county time.

Rindfleisch entered her plea Thursday in front of Milwaukee County Circuit Judge David Hansher.

Social issues played a part in the campaign. Walker has stated that he is "100% pro-life" and that he believes life should be protected from conception to natural death.[34] He opposes abortion in all circumstances, including in cases of rape, incest, or to protect the life of the mother.[20][35] He supports abstinence-only sex education in the public schools, and opposes state supported clinical services that provide birth control and testing and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases to teens under the age of 18 without parental consent.[20] He supports the right of pharmacists to refuse to fill prescriptions for contraceptives on religious or moral grounds.[20][36]

If CBS was in the business of reporting government scandals, we would see more articles in their blog than this. Detroit and the city of Washington DC could fill this rag without much effort. How hard was it to find a corrupt republican? I wonder if they would touch the federal level scandals or would they require actual journalists and not democrat appointees?

So, the Gang In Red strikes again. Get elected and rob the yokels seems to be too common with Republicans. Deals that release wrongdoers so they don't embarrass the party publicly around election time lest they reveal the deal. These people belong in jail and they are not. Is justus done?

This story is a preview of the GOP will bring to the country.

The entire GOP is a Hou$e of Lie$. Mitt Romney is running as Con-Artist in Chief.

This story is another good reason to re-hire Obama and to fire the entire Lyin'-Ryan, Shifty-Mitty GOP.

Scott Walker is a closet Democrat. He perpetrates political graft, favoritism, and bogus legal strategy. Wisconsin should consider indictment, not feigned elections against his own cohorts.

Thank you CBS for your unbiased reporting that this person was a Walker appointee. Way to go to go specifically out of your way to point that out. Your news organization has been doing this since before Walter Cronkite. I used to watch your news but have not done so since the 1990's because I am tired of your one sided slant presented in news under the guise of reporting just the facts.
You, ABC, NBC, and CNN report the news the way you want us to hear it instead of just presenting the news and letting us make up our own minds. I watch Fox not because they are unbiased because they are not but they don't try to hide it. They tell me what they want me to hear but then they play the actual voice clip or show the written statement and let me make up my own mind. I have disagreed with them many times but I get the whole story from them not just some little snippet. Even the printed news is just as bad as what you do.
When I was in college it was taught that news reporting was supposed to be unbiased but you and the rest of your fellow reporters are very biased in your news coverage. I guess that you will never learn to be totally truthful until you have completely lost out in the news game.
Since the 1960's you have blatantly given any democrat the benefit of the doubt and a free ride but when it comes to the republicans you have scrutinized them with a fine toothed comb and always left the viewer with a question. Your news organization has been dishonest and you had to let Dan Rather go because he got caught doing what happens all the time with you organization.
