LOS ANGELES A federal judge in Los Angeles will decide next week whether the man behind an anti-Islamic film that sparked violence in the Middle East should be sent back to prison for violating his probation.

Mark Basseley Youseff is expected in a courtroom on Wednesday. He was convicted in 2010 of bank fraud.

Prosecutors say Youseff had eight violations, including lying to his probation officers and using aliases. Youseff also goes by the name of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula.

The 55-year-old was remanded into custody without bond after he was determined to be a flight risk.

Federal authorities say he was behind the film "Innocence of Muslims," which has led to violence in the Middle East and the deaths of dozens, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens.

This man violated the terms of his parole, lied to his parole officer, and by using aliases, that is why he is in jail, didn't some of you good folks actually read the article? He was also barred from using the internet, where the so-called film was published. The article did not state that any charges were pending for his role in producing the film. So, you Obama bashers kinda jumped the gun on this one.

Shame on CBSNews for continuing to cite that stupid movie as what caused the embassy attack in Libya. You have gotta know better by now, which makes it propaganda most foul. There were protests in Egypt about that movie. But none in Libya. The attackers in Libya didn't even know of the movie. I guess it's easier to cite a blasphemous movie as the cause, rather than admit the truth that it is shoddy and greedy US imperialism gone bad that ails us.

I agree. Many dedicated reporters/journalists are reporting that the Obama White House is stonewalling, trying to keep the failures of security secret until after Obama is elected (God forbid.) Susan Rice, Hilary Clinton, Obama, and others blame this video, but what do they think is going to happen when the Hollywood movie about bin Laden's assassination comes out??? Are they stopping its release? The attack came after many other attacks on the embassy, security was nearly non-existent, it was the anniversary of 9/11, things were so bad in the area that the UK closed its own embassy and warned the US---Obama could not be bothered to attend Intel meetings. Obama has made delusional statements in the past about his influence in the ME. Valerie Jarrett had more security than the Americans in Benghazi. Obama and the WH continue to lie and prevaricate.

This man did do things that are illegal.

It is illegal to lie to actors in such a way that this man did.

Can you imagine someone using Jews in a movie about the Holocaust and then editing this movie in such a way to make it seem as though they were denying the Holocaust?

This man is a criminal.

This man is scum.

He lied to people in order to get them to produce a "movie" that they would not have otherwise helped produce.

He changed their script, edited their lines and added material which they would have objected to.

WHO SPEAKS FOR THE PEOPLE THIS MAN LIED TO.
OPEDANDERSON2, why aren't you concerned about them?
DC-LOVER replies, why don't you defend them?

I can't believe the AP and people like Audemus are still blaming the movie for the death of our Ambassador. Doesn't anybody pay attention to anything? The administration has finally admitted that it was a terrorist attack, planned for 9/11. Audemus's ignorance can be forgiven...the AP's intentional ignorance of the facts, totally unacceptable.

Perhaps you should try some foreign news sources...

The story was aired on two hard-line Muslim TV stations run by Salafists, and stated that the trailer had been aired on "US State Television". Considering those people don't get other sources for news, they believed it. Those TV stations chose the timing specifically, even though they'd known about the film months ahead of time.

[source: The Economist, 9/15/12, page 46]

... in case you missed it the first time. Try avoiding our 'election time' news, and Google "salafist tv stations 9/11".

You're welcome.

Welcome to the Third Reich: If you do something that is not illegal but those in the gov't deem untoward...they will find a reason (even barely legal) to stop you.
Why is it so hard for the Obama-lovers to not see this. In Saddam's Iraq, one would risk penalties for speaking ill of Saddam or other superiors. It will be the same here if O-blame-o gets his way.
Look at him in the debates. He could not believe the gall Romney had to question Obama's ONE-NESS.

I'm a Dem but I don't think that this whole business about the riots has anything to do with a parole violation. I think he should be allowed to use an alias because it is necessary to maintain his right to privacy. Everyone knows that the Islamic world is crazy. If they don't know that then they are crazy. Every time the frauds of Islam are exposed, the "faithful" riot. It is time that Islam lost it's status as a religion!!!!!!!! It is a political system just like Democrat or Republican and churches that embrace a political system SHOULD LOSE THEIR TAX EXEMPTION!!!!!!

Same religion, different culture. The only reasons Christians aren't still running around killing people on a grand scale is that our laws forbid it. Of course, laws don't really stop that completely - Ireland's Christian wars are a good example.

Hmmm - so you forgot GWB apologizing to President Karzai personally when a sniper was discovered using a Quran for target practice?

Did you forget GWB kissing the Saudi King and holding hands with him in front of the press corps?

How about when he bowed deeply enough to "service" ole Kingie boy?

Google those pictures, if you can handle it. You're only noticing now because you think Obama's muslim, too. Personally, I don't give a crap about that - I just want us out of the Middle East, and bending over for Israel, and not just the Muslims.
