Shooting at Fla. VFW post, 2 dead

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. Police say two people are dead and another is injured after a shooting at a central Florida Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

Winter Springs Police said a charity motorcycle ride was supposed to depart from the post when the shooting broke out Sunday morning while the riders were eating breakfast.

The Orlando Sentinel reports an unknown number of armed men came in and began firing. It's unclear if any of the attendees shot back.

Winter Springs Police spokesman Lt. Doug Steeley said the agency has detained several people and confiscated a number of weapons.

VFW posts around the country support veterans and their families.

Iam a Florida Warlock. Our guys were ambushed and murdered. This had nothing to do with the VFW so everyone can ease off.Our brothers have been threatened buy paul the dog and Tinman for quite a while now.I always thought that planing and laying in wait was !st degree murder..These jerks from PA wre laying in wait for our brothers, to murder them. These guys that were killed great people and family men trying to support a great cause like we always do.The fla. Warlocks are a brotherhood, yes, there is the occasional mistake, but we are human too.Big John said it best, there are more police officers behind bars for crimes than Warlocks, and they are supposed to be upholding the law,We are who we are,and we make no apoliges for who we are.If you don't know who the people are you are talking about really are ,and you don't know what you are talking about, the best thing you can do is shut up and listen.Ask yourself this.Do you have anyone in your life that will take a bullet for you without question ? I do, everyone wearing this Warlock patch.Walk a mile in my shoes before you criticize and accuse.

Do you realize how stupid most of you sound? I was at the VFW and left before the shooting. The MC involved in this was not affiliated with the VFW. The VFW was just the first stop on their run. This was not in anyway related to the VFW or Obama. Wake up FOULKDIESEL... it had nothing to do with a robbery either. If you are stupid enough to rob a MC during a fund raiser, you wouldn't do it at the beginning of the day, you would do it at the end when they have the most amount of money. It was NOT veteran related.

Lots of times the women are pretty hot in a VFW post. We are into fire trucks and convertibles rather than Bikes. We have a few trikes but seeing as how it is a Korea/Vietnam era post we are getting up there in years. Lovineveryminutofit though!

Really? I'm sorry I must have read a different article than you. I didn't realize that we were on the subject of how hot the women at a VFW are. Or maybe that is all you can think about instead of a couple people that just lost their lives.

Thank you so much RLAMPRICH.. you beat me to the punch.. and along with the fact that a good many bikers are most likely veterans, these non-oonformists out here commenting on here in such a self righteous way need to remember that for the most part, many of the bikers nowadays are also their own lawyers, sheriffs, judges, doctors, nurses and in general most bikers come from any and every walk of life.. the point behind this news was not who the bikers are or who did the crime.. but that a crime was committed at a VFW .. wow.. can we just wait and see how the story ends before you start crucifying the general public for being a biker enthusiast .. you know.. you may need a"BIKER".. ONE DAY REAL SOON... it could be your child's teacher.. or the principal.. don't shun a biker.. we give more money per capita than most of you "cagers".. to help our own.. turn about fair play.. and it's honest, earned, hard working money that wasn't given to us by the gov't mule.. we help our own.. that's what these folks were trying to do when they were killed..

The irony:

Those vets who fought and bled for the right to keep and bear arms were killed and wounded by those who benefited from their sacrifice.

If anyone wonders why I think only those who have done military or public service should be allowed to vote, this is only one of those reasons.

You can't be serious . . . "only those who have done military or public service should be allowed to vote"

Have you even read the Constitution? We're free to work where we want, to join (or not join) the military. Serving in uniform may be noble, but it's not the bedrock on which our great country was formed. Freedom to do as we choose is. And I'll vote for that any day!

What a small minded statement! My man is in Afghanistan and do you really think I don't know what a sacrifice he is making for our country and our freedom? What about the sacrifice I make of not having him here? The stress of worrying about him everyday and praying he makes it home again? His base was attacked this month and I felt sick for days even though he was not physically harmed. I know the mental trauma he was going through. We have a very strong connection and I am very sensitive to the situation that he is in. You should rethink your closed minded opinion. Opinion is all that it is and not a very decent one at that.

Maybe a study needs to be done to see what overmedicating or eating processed foods do to the mental capability of people.

And no, it is not paranoia. I've had an issue where my cholesterol medication was causing me to my temper for the smallest of things (and I'm normally a very very mild mannered person).

It was a robbery, wake up people, not a biker gang, common sense here. They do charity runs all the time, and some idiots thought they would take advantage of the situation, blame it on Obama, he has made it clear that veterans are not worth a damn, no respect now days, this Country has gone to crap!

As a VFW member, solider, & retired officer I cannot let your uncalled for assault on our President go unanswered. Blaming this on Obama puts you in the neocon crazie camp. Obama has done more for us veterans than any of these teabagger neocons. His wife has been a tremendous advocate for military families. Take you unamerican accusations elsewhere. You should be ashamed of yourself.

What the .....

I was with you until you chose to put in the partisan manure, freshly yanked out of the cow...

What the hell does Obama have to do with this?

Do you not remember the number of times Bush cut the funding and benefits for vets? (Look it up, it's true...)

Unlike you, I'm not lazy and started doing your work for you.

Yet only Obama is bad to vets in your myopic little eyes?

RETIREDARMY_NURSE's response to you hit the nail on the head.

Only going to get worse...

I know that line is starting to get old, but what's more worthy of complaining about:

My saying "only going to get worse" all the time, or these people who love playing with their little popguns?
