(AP) SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A small plane has crashed in Missouri, killing the owners of two businesses and three children.
Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesman Jason Pace told the Springfield News-Leader that the plane went down about 12:30 a.m. Saturday near the town of Willard.
He says the plane appeared to have been headed toward the Springfield airport when it crashed. Troopers are securing the scene until investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration arrive.
Pace identified those killed as 44-year-old John Lambert, 46-year-old Robin Melton, 10-year-old Joshua Lambert, 15-year-old McKinley Lambert and 16-year-old Grayson Lambert. Pace says John Lambert was piloting the plane.
Lambert owned Missouri Insulation & Supply Inc., while Melton owned an environmental consulting firm called Environmental Works Inc.

- Eugene2012...it is 2012. Not 1950. Very insensitive question . There are more 2 family household in America now then one family. Mr Lambert was an awesome father who despite divorce played major positive influence in his children life. He and his children were positive role models for all who met them. Regarding your comments castleglen, the weights of the passengers were way below the weight capacity of the SR22. Condolences to the Lamberts and Meltons. Your loved ones will be missed.

- What I would like to know is how 5 people were jammed into a 4-seater Cirrus SR22. By the sound of it, that was not why the plane crashed. A competent pilot would never have a passenger who had not a seat with harness or over load the plane.

- That's too bad, especially for the kids. I can't really tell what that picture is trying to show, though.
