(AP) WEST SENECA, N.Y. - They got hitched while still in their teens, divorced 20 years later, and are getting remarried after nearly a half-century apart.

For Lena Henderson and Roland Davis, the second time around is finally here, even if they're both 85.

The Buffalo-area couple plans to get married again on Saturday, with four generations of their family on hand to see it happen.

The couple tells The Buffalo News they met as teenagers in Chattanooga, Tenn., and after marrying had four children together.

They divorced in 1964 but always kept in touch.

Henderson moved to West Seneca 30 years ago. Davis, a military retiree, was living alone in Colorado after his previous wife died several months ago.

During a telephone conversation with Henderson, he proposed to her, and she said yes.

This is the most precious step in the lives of two wonderful people. To maintain communication and friendship is something to relish. Majority of people who divorce have hostility and hatred but they show the genuine LOVE of GOD that one has for each other. There is hope for the hopeless and love for the hurt and broken hearted. Have faith your time will come.

Well, I am 73 and I have been married twice. I picked a man just like my Dad who was very mean, both times you would have thought I would have learned something from the first marriage, not so... A fact not many knew. I would not marry again if he had a great deal of money. The important thing now is being a great Mother and a great Grandmother. Raptorsmasher, you must not know the Bible for that was a very stupid thing to have said. What is a stupid thing to do today is bring children into the world without being married.

They are both smart enough to realize that at their ages, it's better to be together than to be alone! Good story.

It should be against the law for old people to get married, since they can't procreate.

In that case no one should be allowed to marry under the age of
twenty five as most teens have no common sense when it come to
love and marriage. They are thinking of one thing only. Eighty five
years old have common sense and will use it. Even if they were a
100 as long as they still have their minds go for it. Happiness
holds no age.
