Woman seriously injured in CO shooting miscarries

(CBS/AP) DENVER - A woman who was critically wounded in the Colorado theater shooting that left dead her 6-year-old daughter has suffered a miscarriage.

The family of Ashley Moser said in a statement Saturday that she is recovering from surgery but that the trauma caused the miscarriage.

Jacki Kelley of the Jefferson County sheriff's office declined to release details and says the family has declined to speak to the media.

Moser's daughter, Veronica Moser-Sullivan, was the youngest person killed in the attack at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie in Aurora, Colo., more than a week ago.

Moser suffered gunshot wounds to her neck and abdomen, and a family member has said her family had not told her about Veronica's death.

In a statement, Ashley Moser's family said: "We want to send a special thank you to the courageous HEROES of law enforcement, other first responders, paramedics, and doctors and nurses who have all gone beyond the call-of-duty in caring for our daughter, granddaughter and all of the other victims of this tragic event.

"Our sincere appreciation goes out to all of those who have been sending well-wishes, prayers and good thoughts to Ashley. Her lifetime of care will be a long road. For those who wish to donate, please go to any Wells Fargo Bank and request the "Donation Account for Ashley and Veronica Moser." This is the only official donation account for the family."

The family says funeral plans for the girl remain pending.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Ashley and to all her family and friends. I can't even imagine the agony of such losses.

I strongly believe that the jerk that did this should be charged with a 13th murder. I know it won't make any difference in the final judgement, but it may give a minute measure of much needed comfort to the family.

There are definitely times when our justice system does not work and I'm afraid this is one very clear case of that. This piece of scum will be kept alive at taxpayer expense for at least the next 10-15 years. It doesn't really matter if he was sane or insane, the bottom line is that he's a danger to society. He shot 70 people, killing 12 directly and one unborn. Why allow him to live any longer? Execute him right now! We know he's going die in prison anyway, either of old age, lethal injection, or at the hands of other inmates.

They said that this lady lost her "unborn child".

Not "fetus".

Liberals only admit that an unborn baby is a child when it suits their fancy.
