Truck driven by 13-year-old kills Mo. mother, 17

(CBS News) WASHINGTON, Mo. - A 17-year-old Missouri mother was killed when her car was hit by a truck driven by a 13-year-old girl.
Authorities say a Franklin County Deputy was on Highway 47 around 12:04 a.m. early Friday when he saw the 13-year-old's truck cross the shoulder line.
The deputy tried to make a stop, but the suspect did not yield.
Deputies said the driver lost control of the truck while approaching the intersection of Highway 47 and Highway 100. The truck then hit 17-year-old Aubrey Nothum's Mazda, which was stopped at a traffic light.
Nothum was taken to Mercy Hospital, where she later died, reports CBS Affiliate KMOV.
Both the suspect and her 11-year-old brother, who was a passenger in the truck, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police said they later determined the juvenile had stolen the Chevy pick-up from her parents.
Charges are pending against the 13-year-old girl, who has been turned over to juvenile authorities.
Nothum, who was to be a senior at Washington High School this fall, had a son who recently turned one. She had a full-time job as a lifeguard and had recently decided to become a nurse.
According to her family, Nothum was a typical teen who turned her life around after becoming pregnant at 15 years old.
Her sister, Allie, said Aubrey's son Jaxon was the center of her universe.
"She was still a 17-year-old girl," Allie said, adding that after Aubrey had her baby, "she tried so hard to be responsible."
A fund has been set up for Jaxon Nothum. Contributions can be sent to the Jaxon Nothum Benefit Fund, care of the Bank of Washington, P.O. Box 377 Washington, Mo., 63090.

Years ago if a girl got pregnant her pregnancy was kept very quiet and she usually got married very quickly if the young man would marry her. If he wouldn't, he usually suffered for it at the hands of her father and brothers and sometimes she was sent to stay with a relative until after the baby was born.
My point is many "shotgun" weddings and unwed pregancies happened years ago and probably happened in newsters family too. If he'll just do a little digging he'll probably find several in his family who weren't married nine months when their first child was born and, if so, he shouldn't judge and say hateful things about this poor girl that was killed and he shouldn't call anyone trash.
In fact if he'll do a little digging into his genealogy, he'll probably find enough things to make him come down off his high horse and get his haughty nose out of the air!
Sorry, I have NO more sympathy for reckless, disrespectful or irresponsible american kids. Whether they are stealing cars or having babies, that I will need to pay for out of MY paycheck, trash IS the correct term.

Now, assuming the article had full details, your insistence on the death penalty might be valid depending on the details... but if you want to kill everybody, I suggest you find a psychiatric ward and check in. Pronto, please, before you become that Holmes fella...
You see, "hope it happens to" can work both ways, and given the article doesn't give enough information, your own bedwetting bloodlust is really out of line.
Unless you can provide solid details about the girl's motivations, of course... which you cannot do because we can only respond to what the articles say, which may or may not be incomplete, or truthful, or other factors...

As far as the 13 year old is concerned, she needs to be charged with vehicular homicide and grand theft. She needs to pay for what she has done and that means jail until she is 21. Probation after that wouldn't hurt.
Her parent's should have to pay child support to the little boy's guardian until he is 18 because he doesn't have the support of his mama. Maybe they will learn to pay more attention to their child(ren) if it hits them in the wallet.

the parents must also assume responsibility of their daughter's act, their irresponsibility has led to tragedy.
