(CBS/AP) MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Authorities say a West Virginia man tortured his wife and kept her in chains for a decade, treating her as his slave.
A criminal complaint says the 43-year-old victim was burned on her back and breasts with irons and frying pans, and her foot was smashed under farm equipment. She also allegedly delivered a stillborn child while in chains. Another infant survived.
Thirty-seven-year-old Peter Lizon of Leroy was in jail on $300,000 bond Wednesday. He was scheduled to appear in court on a malicious wounding charge Friday.
According to CBS affiliate WOWK Huntington, the victim stayed at a shelter in Parkersburg. In the complaint, the victim told Jacklyn Adams at the shelter that her husband had kept her in chains for around 10 years. Adkins said she witnessed scars on the victim's wrists and ankles, according to the complaint.
Jackson County Chief Deputy Tony Boggs says the victim has endured more torture than virtually any domestic violence victim he's ever seen.
Lizon's attorney wasn't immediately available for comment. He told WSAZ-TV the allegations are false.

To the genius who puts his political crapola into the picture, when you get done counting to twenty one, you can put your pants and shoes back on. People like you are the lowest burdens on society. You make a moron look intelligent by comparison.

- don't understand why many are against the death penalty. this man deserves to be put to death. if i were king, he would already have been executed. a wild animal, such as a mountain lion or a bear, that kills a human is instantly sentenced to death, hunted down and executed. a human kills another human, and nothing happens to the killer. a human tortures another for ten years, and nothing will happen to the torturer, nothing.
