(CBS News) BIRMINGHAM, Mich. - A Birmingham store's $1 million bra is much more than just an article of clothing.

CBS Detroit affiliate WWJ reported that Birmingham Estate and Jewelry Buyers is selling an 18 carat gold bra encrusted with over 500 carats of diamonds.

WWJ's Vickie Thomas was able to try on the blinged-out lingerie, which was created by store owner Anthony Aubry.

"If you just have that much money, someone would want it to say 'Oh, I have a $1 million bra,' or some people would put it on display at their house or something, and some people, believe it or not, would actually want to wear it," said Aubry, who named the bra after his wife, Rita.

The solid gold brasserie took over three months to design and took a crew of workers almost a year to make, Aubry said.

Aubry told WWJ the major difference between his design and the famed Victoria's Secret million-dollar "Fantasy" bras is that the chain store's showpieces have "fabric in them and the diamonds are kind of imbedded into the fabric." Aubrey's work of art is solid gold -- 750 grams of it.

At least the when the rich and super-rich purchase luxury yachts, 10-car-garage super-mansions, etc, they really are contributing to the employment of the other "classes".

But a gold, diamond-studded bra? Where is the justification for not taxing such an item with a luxury tax of 80%? What? You mean it might put TWO craftsmen and one jeweler out of business? Maybe a salesperson or two?

This is the kind of thing that will guarantee that the Dems win the White House this November. The rich, the super-rich--and even the upper middle class-- are all on another planet. So out of touch with most people that it's almost beyond belief.

Go ahead. Buy your gold & diamond bra. But you better put it in a safety deposit box. Because if any spoiled, silly woman ever wears it, expect it to be "taken" (stolen) from her in a bad way.

If someone wants it and can pay for it it is their business. Fine workmanship is always appreciated. Just some things are not so spectacular or even portable. The Cistine Chapel ceiling painting or the fine eggs (forgot what they are called) comes to mind. There are expert craftsmen all over the world who labor to make their signature piece of work. Appreciate it for what it is and the skilled dedication to make it a reality.

The term "Ugly American" sure fits this.

No family members of the candidates deserve cheap shots.
