(CBS News) TUCSON, Ariz. - The Department of Justice announced charges against five individuals in the death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

The 11-count indictment was unsealed Monday.

One person already has been arrested and charged in Terry's death. While the indictment was handed up by the grand jury last November, covert efforts to locate and apprehend the fugitives have not resulted in arrests.

Consequently, the Justice Department and Customs and Border Protection are jointly offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to arrests of those wanted.

Complete Coverage: The "Fast and Furious" scandal

Terry was gunned down Dec. 14, 2010, in Arizona near the Mexico border, when he and other agents attempted to apprehend armed individuals in Peck Canyon, west of Rio Rico. The FBI alleges that the suspects had illegally entered the United States in order to steal contraband from drug traffickers.

The five engaged in a firefight with border patrol agents, during which Terry was shot and killed.

The suspects were armed with AK-47-type rifles. The rifles were part of ATF's then-secret operation known as Fast and Furious.

The indictment charges Manuel Osorio-Arellanes, Jesus Rosario Favela-Astorga, Ivan Soto-Barraza, Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes and Lionel Portillo-Meza with crimes including first degree murder, second degree murder, conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, attempted interference with commerce by robbery, use and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence, assault on a federal officer and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

The indictment also alleges that the five assaulted the border patrol agents who were with Terry.

Although Manuel Osorio-Arellanes was arrested on the night of the shooting, Favela-Astorga, Soto-Barraza, Portillo-Meza, and Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes remain at large, presumably in Mexico.

A sixth defendant, Rito Osorio-Arellanes, is charged with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery.

"We will stop at nothing to bring those responsible for his murder to justice," said Attorney General Eric Holder.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of the fugitives should contact the FBI's Phoenix field office, at (623) 466-1999, a local FBI office, or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.

It would be nice if CBS included the conviction of the straw buyer and explained that the only reason that the AK-47s serial numbers were on the Fast & Furious log, was because the dealer that sold them called ATF on a three day weekend and left a voice mail reporting a suspicious sale.

And when a Border Patrol officer shoots and kills an unarmed 15-year-old who is on the Mexico side of the border, the official ruling is that it was "justified." Where's the reward in that case and the case of Anastacio Hernandez Roja who was handcuffed on the ground, surrounded by 12 Border Patrol officers and was tasered to death with the event recorded by witnesses. Where's the reward for that death? How about the women raped at the Hutto Detention Center? How about the vigilante groups cutting open the water containers in the desert and responsible for several deaths? And before there's the cry of indignation, current statistics are that the entrance of undocumented workers into the U.S. is now zero and less because many are returning to their homelands. Meanwhile, 40% of all the gringos living in Mexico are there illegally, but that's okay, right?

Pleeease, with Obama promising AMNESTY you actually think we are going to buy your spin? The gringos living in Mexico aren't having babies for welfare and social services, they bring money, not take. If illegals would quit crossing the border ILLEGALLY the wouldn't get themselves in the trouble they get into. Sad things happen to them but they know they are breaking the laws. That 15 year old boy was throwing rocks, which kill at the border patrol and he was not an innocent kid. Rape? You talk like none of the illegals raped anyone, when we have records of that problem all over the USA. All your reasons for being illegal doesn't wash.

For willfully failing to protect and secure America's borders and for authorizing the most stupid and ill-conceived operation in American history, Fast and Furious, "the system worked" wrong-way napolitano, "You Lie!" hussein and his imbecile AG (and Black Panther Party supporter and defender) holder should all be charged as accomplices to murder in the death of Border Patrol Agents Brian Terry and Jaime Zapata.

I think the real problem is all this were the Arizona gun "laws" which allow for easy access. There were literally thousands of gun dealers in this area that were part of the scheme.

and the dealers all knew they were dealing with illegal gun sales, and called the TABFE for clearance. and yet the TABFE ... wait for it ... told them to go ahead with the sales!

Number One :
Make a REAL WAR on drug use in the U.S. It is a fact that many drug dealing operations in the U.S. are operated by local business owners, large and small. Stop protecting the city fathers and IMPRISON the true drug dealers. Fines mean nothing to these people.

Number two:
IMPRISON the business owners who hire illegal workers. Again, fines mean nothing to these people. A large percentage of the drug transporters are pos'ing as farm and dairy workers.

Three :
Put surveilance on all local elected officials. This will reveal who is letting who get away with what.

Just legalize pot. So much easier than all that stuff. Not only that the government could receive legal revenue instead of the illegal revenue the CIA gets from this. We already have liquor legal which is far, far more dangerous a drug.

Hopefully they are going after the folks that we selling the guns so they could be walked over to Mexico. Seems like in AZ where most people's brains are fried by the heat, they are against any regulation.

I find it amusing that the Republicons who are all for the free market and no regulation think that the government should have seized the weapons. You can't have it both ways Republicons.

Maybe securing the border should be a priority to the feds instead of a bother like it appears to be to the Obama gang of thugs.

I think you should educate yourself, the FBI and ATF made the gun shops sell these guns to straw purchasers so they could "track" (ya right) them! The sellers along with some of the Border Patrol Agents, ATF and FBI guys were the ones that blew the whistle on this! If you don't know what your talking about please educate yourself or you look like a moron!!!

I admire all of our border patrol officers who are trying to keep illegals out of our country. They are the ones who should be shot, not our law enforcement. God Bless his family.
