Md. 12-year-old charged in toddler's death

AP

(AP) PALMER PARK, Md. - Police say a 12-year-old boy is being charged with second-degree murder in the beating death of a 2-year-old foster child living with his family.

The boy is being charged as a juvenile and his name is not being released. Police spokeswoman Julie Parker says the boy's father called 911 Tuesday night to report the girl was unresponsive. The man performed CPR on the child, but she was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Parker says an autopsy confirmed the child, identified as Aniyah Batchelor, died of blunt-force trauma. The 12-year-old, who lives in Fort Washington, was charged Wednesday and made his first appearance in court Thursday. He is being held at the Cheltenham Youth Facility.

No amount of punishment will ever be appropriate for this murder, regardless of the murderer's age...the murderer knew what he was doing...

What kind of parents raise a child capable of beating a toddler to death?

Only the very worst kind, of course.

A 12 year old is not old enough to babysit a 2 year old child, period. The parents bear responsibility here. And yes, most of the foster parent situations are in it for the money, but most people work because they are in it for the money. Fostering kids _is_ work.

Too bad we put children into foster care to be abused more. Their entire life is only pain & suffering, from birth to death. These unwanted children will never experience the joy of love & a normal family life. And this abuse in foster homes is not uncommon, most are in it for the money & the government does not ensure the safety of these little unwanted victims. The entire family should be convicted, as they are all to blame. This is another perfect example of why abortion, mandatory, & free sterilization should be a law.

Yes, exactly!! I'd like to know where are the hypocrites, the so-called right-to-lifers. They care more about a glob of cells than they do about an unwanted baby being born. Where were all of these right to lifers, why haven't they adopted all of these unwanted, throw-away kids? Both of the kids in this situation shouldn't have been born, and all of the egg and sperm donors involved should be spayed and neutered. Then they can have a Pet Rock if they want something to care for that they can handle.

attacking right to lifers about this? The mother of this child already had the right to an abortion. She had the right to birth control. It didn't save this child. Abortion simply kills millions of OTHER unwanted babies

12 years old and he beat a toddler to death? I'm wondering if there were already some mental issues with the older child and, as one poster said, the child did something that set him off.

Yeah and he knows the very WORST they can do is hold him for 6 years and then he gets out and gets off with a clean record!

Kid must have done something bad to set him off lol.

Knew has been watching to much Law and Order. I am not sure what is more delusional the 12 year old or the comment: "Kid must have done something bad to set him off lol."

That is just sick!
