Word misspelled on Nev. high school's diplomas

CBS

(AP) SPRING CREEK, Nev. - Students at a northeastern Nevada high school were surprised when they received their diplomas: the word "graduation" was misspelled as "graduataion."

Spring Creek High Principal Keith Walz told the Elko Daily Free Press that the misspelling on about 200 diplomas ordered from the Salt Lake City company Jostens was an "inadvertent mistake."

Jostens spokesman Bryan Durfey acknowledges the company was responsible for the mistake, and says corrected diplomas already have been sent by priority mail directly to graduates.

He says the company realizes it isn't going to be perfect, and its policy is to fix errors immediately.

The school will not be charged for the extra diplomas.

In a similar incident, diplomas at a Maryland high school are being reprinted because they contained a misspelling of the word "program."

This one reason we need to dismanatle the department of education, ever since the creation of the Department of education we have been going down hill in the world. Obama keeps wanting more and more teachers for votes only. Teachers,Policemen, and Firemen, are the responsibility of the state and local governments not the Federal government. We need better teachers and at least get back to teaching Geography,Penmanship, and Gym at least 3 times a week, never seen so many fat stupid kids in my life.

no actually it's more entertainment than news, but one would expect that a bunch of overpaid school administrators could take a few minutes and "proof read their "document" of supposed achievement of education...

It is when we spend 86 billion dollars on the Department of education and have gone down hill ever since its creation.Lacking good Teachers and Administrators,we need to stop throwing money at the problem and make some serious changes.

What does school funding have to do with a private printing company misspelling a word ? Do you have a problem with reading comprehension ?

What funding cuts? Schools are a responsibility of the state and local governments.Ever since the department of education was created by Democrats our world standing has went down.
