(CBS/AP) CLEVELAND - Family members say a 10-year-old Ohio girl critically injured in April in a restaurant shooting by her father that killed her mother and her sister has died.

A Cleveland area hospice has released a family statement saying Kayla Allen died on Tuesday.

Police say Kayla was shot April 12 when her father, Kevin Allen, killed his wife, Katherina, and their other 10-year-old daughter, Kerri, with a shotgun at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Brooklyn, a Cleveland suburb. Police shot and killed him outside the restaurant.

Kayla had been hospitalized in critical condition for about a month before her condition worsened. She was moved into hospice care on Friday.

Kevin Allen's wife told police in a 911 call before the shooting she had just told him she was leaving him and that he wasn't taking it well. She told authorities he was in his car and circling the lot.

When police arrived at the scene, they heard gunshots and then saw Allen exiting the restaurant through the front door while holding a gun. Officers ordered him to surrender and he did not comply. Law enforcement reportedly exchanged fire with the gunman before eventually fatally shooting him.

Humans cannot shoot and kill people without guns. More than 30,000 americans are killed with guns every year in the US. Just a couple of thousands are killed with all types of knives and blades. Most rope related deaths are suicides and they are just around 100 per year or less and car related deaths are mostly accidental. Cars are also used at a much larger rate than guns so if you equate the time used guns will end up killing more than 200,000 americans per year. Educate yourself about the hevoc created with guns.

Your the one who needs to educate yourself about guns. Look at your own statistics. Out of the 30,000 killed by guns, how many of those were shot by someone who legally owned the gun? I think you'll find the answer surprising. Not allowing people to legally own firearms is not going to get them out of the hands of the really dangerous people, the criminals, and those are the ones committing the majority of the violent crimes.

Thank You, my point exactly with out the people the gun does no harm. With out the gun they simply kill with something else its a pretty simple process. I just hope you never are in a situation where you have to save your own life.

How many people die from car accidents? How many people die from being stupid? How many people die from plane crashes? I can go on for a while.
If guns are the issue, shouldn't we get rid of cars and planes along with everything else that has been used in the killing or the death of people?

People kill. Doesn't matter what the weapon is. This family would have died with or without a gun. It's the person that kills with a gun. It's a person that kills with a car or a bat or a knife or a rock or with words......

This is how the NRA wants disputes settled, they will argue if someone in the Cracker Barrel had been carrying a gun or if Mrs. Allen had had a gun they could have shot Mr. Allen before he shot. The problem here isn't too many guns it is too few. If we all carried guns then this sort of thing wouldn't happen, there would be people to shoot him down before he could raise the shotgun. To the NRA vision for America a gun in every pocket. Elect republicans that is how you get it.

I pray for the family remaing and it's very said that we have lost another young life.
And about the NRA you most not be very educated about them or the second amendment because firearms cannot kill people with out a human , so do you condem the knife, rope and car company's for killing also.
This is not about that anyway its about the tragic death of a child and her family not for you to show your Antigun antics just take time to care about the person.

This is the same person that a second before he shot his whole family the NRA said he was a law abiding gun owner. We have a lot of those law abiding gun owners around. Law abiding until they have a problem. They rarely use their guns against criminals. But they do love to use them against their families.

EmpireGeorge...there are many differences between being attacked with a knife and being attacked with a gun. We have more than 30,000 gun-related deaths per year in the US and just like 2,000 with all types of knives and blades. You are more likely to survive a knife attack than a gun attack. You could run away from the knife weilding weirdo but running away from a gun nut will be a waste of time!~

No matter the possible evil, hatred, insult, or shredded life a man or a women have/commit against the other parent. . Children should never be swept up into the rage of adults. There is a good chance that both his parents and her parents are hurting now above and beyond the loss of the adults life and future (We all know the shooter will be punished, most likely with his life). Another grandchild has perished for the possible sins of adults (at the very minimum the sin of the murder). We the public or elected officials can never know the minute details of these people's life, nor do most people want to or to get in the middle of it. Injustice breeds Injustice. We know from history inner tribal and inner family violence has been going on since man has recorded history. We would hope more adults would not sweep the young up in the madness. Children are not property of the state or property of the parents, they deserve the right to live. They are not to be swept up into adult's evil and selfish conflict. When parents whose life are potentially totally in shambles blur out parental love in favor of rage, evil wins.
