Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant says left's "one mission in life is to abort children"

(AP) JACKSON, Miss. - Mississippi's Republican governor had new harsh words for proponents of legalized abortion this week, saying, "their one mission in life is to abort children, is to kill children in the womb."

Gov. Phil Bryant made the comments Tuesday on the Internet talk show of Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association.

The governor was discussing a new abortion restriction law requiring doctors who perform abortions at a clinic to be certified OB-GYNs with admitting privileges at a local hospital. He said opposition to the bill came from the political left.

The House Democratic leader says Bryant's comments went "totally, totally too far," especially because Mississippi voters rejected a personhood amendment declaring life begins at conception.

The owner of Mississippi's sole abortion clinic plans legal action to block the law.

Politics is plain ugly no matter how you slice it. Each side's main goal seems to be to take individual rights and freedoms away. The extreme right forces their brand of morality on people and don't care who gets hurt in the process. They'll send out the abortion police to sniff people's underwear to make sure they're fresh and pure and overly censors anyone's thoughts who they deem "immoral". The right to free expression through art and music is considered to be satanic. They like to bully people who are different and have a nasty habit of discriminating against women to promote an ill-adviced political agenda. The extreme left discriminates against people too and will send out the religion police to make sure that you're not doing some evil crime like praying or reading the bible. Modern politics almost seems at times to be Nazi Germany vs Communist China. Both sides can be very intolerant and nasty. Politics breeds corruption and lying. There's some nanny politicians that should be aborted by removing them from office. Guilt, fear, and shaming people into complying to the will of the government is a powerful weapon on both sides and destroys constitutional rights.

The left doesn't "send out" anyone. It is up to citizens to make complaints which then requires the law to take effect.

I'm sure many abortions are an alternative method of birth control for the out of control females who make these decisions, instead of either having safe sex or no sex at all. Males are just as much at fault.

Right. But then we get pregnant or cause someone else to get pregnant while we are high. Thus, we need abortions. Actually, what I'd like to see is a "drug store" that sells pot and a few other pharmaceuticals necessary for a happy life, with an abortion clinic in the back. One stop shopping.

And the Republican war on women continues. Old Republican men believe they have the right to dictate to women how they should lead their lives. The Republicans work to insert the government into the personal lives of others. They believe the government should not regulate business activity but should regulate personal behavior to conform with the standards acceptable to the Republican men.

Until there is a birth any fetus is a part of the woman carrying the fetus and the decision on whether to give birth is that woman's alone and not a decision to be make by a male Republican radical in Mississippi.

The problem with conservatives is, they have no volume dial.

What I mean by that is, the conservative's world is black and white, with no shades of gray. Of course, we know that the real world does not work in black and white. So, for example...

Liberals say: I support the right to abortion, though for myself, I don't think its right or proper for me.

GOP translation: The left likes to kill children.

Liberals say: Obama believes that the tax code should be fairer and the rich should pay a little more because they can afford to.

GOP translation: Obama is a Marxist.

Like I said, no volume button. With conservatives, everything is turned up to "11".

schwelk223 proves my point and the sad thing is, he is completely unaware that he did. Like I said, no volume button.

So, using schwelk's incorrect example:

Liberals say: Many people are left behind and even if I am not one of them or I am doing well myself, I can still understand their anger and frustration at an unfair system (its called having "empathy" and "sympathy" - completely foreign concepts to conservatives).

GOP translation: The left wants everything for free for no work.

These special corporate government business interests are grossly unethical. They would never want this wedge issue of abortion to go away. It's been too valuable to divide the electorate. It's amazing what laws they do manage to change however that always involve fleecing the public. David K. Johnston has very interesting things to point out about the non-democratic corporate feudal government interests....not a term David K. Johnston uses to describe them. He tends not to demonize these bastards though as one cannot avoid witnessing, they have demonized a well crafted enemy to get a part of the electorate to hate, the "leftist liberal".

Smokey this isn't a left right thing, this is about a woman being able to control her own body without government intervention. I thought you were for individual rights, including gun rights. Abortion is legal in my country, get over it. Now if you want to try and persuade someone not to have an abortion, then be a man and offer some physical and monetary help after the baby is born instead of just forgetting about them. Easy to say "have that baby" then cowardly run away when the baby is born.
========================================================================================================================================

A women has control over her body if abortion is illegal (Except for rape and incest)does not automatically mean a women is forced to have a baby.

A woman still has complete control of her body she just has to make the decision to either not have sex or have protected sex. I mean after all we are now giving away contraception for free. Seriously this argument that making abortion illegal takes away a women's control of her body is false. It just means the women has to show some responsibility and not get pregnant.

Smokey75 spoken like a true male chauvinist. It's all the woman's fault, her partner had nothing to do with it.

You're wrong. A woman should have the right to get pregnant and she should have the right to end the pregnancy whenever she chooses. She does not have to follow your moral dictates. Also, why do you make a distinction for rape and incest. If you think abortion is immoral then it should be immoral in those cases as well. Is it the fault of the fetus that it was conceived via rape or incest? It's never made any sense to me why a large percentage of anti-choice folks would make such an exception. If it really is "baby killing" (and it isn't), then it is just as much "baby killing" in a case of rape or incest. To me, making that distinction suggests that you do not really believe that abortion is taking a life and that you are simply trying to impose your version of morality on others.
