(AP) SMYRNA, Del. - A convicted Delaware killer who waived his right to further appeals and sought to speed his execution has been put to death by lethal injection.
The Delaware Department of Corrections says 28-year-old Shannon Johnson was pronounced dead early Friday at 2:55 a.m.
The execution came after a federal appeals court overturned a judge's decision halting the execution in response to a last-minute effort by federal public defenders to spare his life.
Johnson was convicted of the 2006 murder of Cameron Hamlin, who was shot after Johnson found him sitting in a car with his ex-girlfriend near downtown Wilmington. Johnson later shot the former girlfriend, but she survived.
Despite saying he didn't want to pursue any more appeals, public defenders sought to intervene in Johnson's case without his consent, arguing he was mentally incompetent.

Sadly, due to us common folks having to prove innocence I fear that too many innocent folks have been murdered by the 'state" and the too-common vile, putrid, scum prosecutors who care only about getting a conviction with little to NO regard if the chosen one to convict is actually guilty or innocent.
There are MANY books written by those who were a part of the legal system that, if read, (well, the VERY small percentage of citizen-sheep who even read let alone read a non-fiction book) will inform the reader how truly disgusting the USA legal system is....
and the well-indoctrinated bleating uninformed of reality citizen-sheep continue to declare their pride with the "finest legal (or, very wrongly "justice" vice "legal") system in the whole world!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, right.
So a person who takes responsibility for his actions and is willing to take the punishment meted out by society MUST be mentally defective?
This guy knew he deserved to die even if the bleeding hearts in the public defender's office refused to see it.
