FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - A Georgia father is pleading with whoever stole an urn that held his newborn daughter's ashes to return it to the family.
Detectives are investigating the Sunday burglary in Fayette County, south of Atlanta.
Brian Allen tells WSB-TV the family already lost their daughter once, and now they've lost her again.
Police say the home was burglarized Sunday while Brian Allen was at work and his wife and two children were at church. Electronics, jewelry, and the heart-shaped urn holding the ashes of their daughter Olivia were stolen. The baby was born a year and a half ago and lived for only a few minutes.
The father is asking whoever stole the urn to "just leave it in the yard" and the family will not ask any questions.
"It's not going to get you any money. You can't do anything with it. It would mean a lot if we could get it back," Allen said to WSB-TV.
