Police: Man stealing on "Shop With a Cop" day

Trying to steal from a Wal-Mart is not a great idea, but it's an especially terrible plan when it's "Shop With a Cop" day. 50 uniformed officers roaming around the store didn't stop a Waldorf, Md. man from trying to steal Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 games and accessories.

Timothy Randall Clark, 22, was apprehended in the store parking lot with $635 worth of video game merchandise stuffed in his pants and sweatshirt.

"Shop With a Cop" is a national event where law enforcement officials spend time with needy or neglected children in their area, taking them on various outings including shopping sprees at popular stores.

According to the police report, Waldorf authorities were taking their kids around a local Wal-Mart, when loss prevention officers noticed a male in one of the back rooms cutting open boxes and taking items. As he headed toward the exit, Charles County Sheriff's Office officers who were inside the store were alerted, and nabbed the would-be thief.

Clark was arrested and charged with theft.
