Christmas tree is hoisted at Rockefeller Center

NEW YORK - A 74-foot Norway spruce from Pennsylvania has been hoisted into place at Rockefeller Center in New York City for its starring role in a big Christmas tradition.

Workers accomplished the task with a crane on Friday.

The tree was cut down Wednesday in Mifflinville, Pa.

It will be decorated with 30,000 multicolored LED lights. It will take five miles of wire to cover the tree, which has a girth of 46 feet at its lowest limbs.

The lighting ceremony will be held Nov. 30. The lights will stay on until Jan. 7. After that, the tree will be milled into lumber for Habitat for Humanity.

Workers building Rockefeller Center set up the first Christmas tree at the site in 1931. The first official tree-lighting ceremony was in 1933.

If you Christians actually read your false book written by Constantine and the Council of Nicea, you would realize that Christ would not have been born in December...much less on the 25th.
By your own bibles, Christ lived 33 and 1/2 years on the planet before allegedly being crucified....figure it out.

Why don't they create a wire-mesh tree and decorate it.

This would send a message that New York respects life and values trees. Or just plant a tree there permanently.

A tree supports other life - animals, birds, insects. The roots keep the soil from being washed away, the tree provides shelter and shade.

There are many creative ways to beautify New York around the holidays. Why destroy a tree that has survived many years in nature.

Surely there is a spot in New York to plant a tree and watch it grow. Here is a lesson for children - to watch a tree grow and to respect life, And isn't Christmas about children and about rebirth and life?
