BURLINGTON, Vt. — Witnesses say a man shot himself in an encampment of the Occupy Wall Street in Burlington, Vermont.

Police say a 35-year-old man was taken to the hospital where he died. The victim has been identified, but police will not release his name until his family is notified.

Reports from both police and fellow protesters indicated that gunshot was self-inflicted, although it was not clear whether it might have been an accident or a suicide attempt. Burlington Deputy Chief Andi Higbee said the public was not in danger given the circumstances of the shooting.

The shooting was reported around 2 p.m.

People who know him say the man is a military veteran. Occupy Vermont leader Emily Reynolds says he "clearly needed more help than we were capable of giving him."

Speaking to the Burlington Free Press protester Hayley Mason said the man had been in park for several days. "I don't know a lot about his personality. He loves the outdoors. He's been a member of our community," she told the paper.

The paper reported escalating crashes between protesters and the police -- who wished to clear the park to conduct an investigation -- following the shooting.

Replace "Emily Reynolds" with "The civil society", replace "he" with #OWS, and you have the legacy of this whole tragic-comic Leftist hackery. Well, at least it's only 7 dead so far, not the millions upon millions racked up by Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, ...

As long as the OWS fleabaggers keep the shooting within the confines of their Obamavilles, more power to them.

A stark reminder for all of you fat-boy, rich ones. We Americans have excellent guns which we have both the ability and courage to use with deady accuracy. When you finally force America's rifle men from the country side to hunt you down you will finally be sorry for being such pigs.

If a 1% died in a OWS camp, then it would be news.

99% of 7 billion people is a lot. People die. A fact of life.

How very sad this happened, no matter who is to blame. It shouldn't have happened.

The media made the Tea Party out to be violent gun-loving racists. The 'funny' thing, now comparing the two groups, is that they seemed to be rather peaceful and actually protesting the right cause.

This OWS thing seems to include plenty of rape, vandalism, public urination and defecation, and more.

And, they protest the very industries that took the bailout money to carry on business as usual, when they should look a little deeper, and protest the entity (our government) who 'strongly encouraged' them to take it, and keep doing business as usual. It's a little hypocritical, no?

Now someone is dead on top of it.

Regardless of how, it's *all* a sad misfortune, taken out on the wrong people.

Except... The pig corporations and international banksters have owned our government for a long time. We turned a blind eye to that fact for a long time because we were all prosperous. Now that they have screwed us, we are going to screw them. One way or another we will rip these parasites from our government, even if we have to kick every sitting Congressman and Senator to the curb to do it. Even if we must resort to violence we will win this fight.

It is getting apparent that Leftist are inherently violent and a drag on society.

Time to ship these worthless Communist to a deserted island where they can start their own commune.

And when they run out of food, they can cannibalize one another.

These people are anarchists, it is a shame that the main stream media gives all this property destruction they have caused a pass. Yet, the main stream media call the Tea Party racist without any evidence.

Maybe. However, it would be a lot easier if the haves would just share the wealth.

I am not going to be very happy if the top 1% causes anarchy by refusing to share until the masses storm the gates on their estates.

It happened in France, Russia and it can happen here. These patriots are on a noble cause and a few shooting will only add to their level of desparation.

A word of advice to the GOP. Start representing the majority NOW or get ready for a really bad day on the first Tueday in November, in the 2011th year of the lord.

These people are Americans, just like you and I with the freedom to gather and express the 1st Amendment rights.

And as to anarchists - I've heard some pretty wild things from the Tea Party. They may be closer than you would like to admit.

People don't commit suicide at a protest. There's a crime here, or there was an intent to commit a crime here, one.
