Police: Pizza workers burned down rival store

LAKE CITY, Fla. - The battle for pizza supremacy has taken a wrong turn in Florida.

Two managers of a Domino's Pizza restaurant in Lake City, in north-central Florida, have been charged with burning down a rival Papa John's location. The motive? Police say one of the men admitted that he believed with his competitor out of the way, more pizza lovers would flock to his restaurant.

The Papa John's was gutted in the Oct. 20 fire.

Both men — Sean Everett Davidson, 23, and Bryan David Sullivan, 22 — were booked on an arson charge and were being held in jail.

The Star-Banner of Ocala reports that police are still looking for an ignition device that the men claimed they made but did not use to start the fire.

I love this story. There must be a moral somewhere. I know. Fighting over pizza is far better than fight over drugs. Send both Papa John and Dominos over to Afghanistan. No more poppies; just Papa (or Dominos).

Since 1970, the spot with the best pizza in my local area has always been a place called Marino's. Square cut, round cut, it doesn't matter - it is always consistently above the rest (Pepperoni is my favorite). But, they don't deliver and they won't take credit cards, so if you don't mind picking it up, it is the best and at the best price. Don't you know that Domino's is the nearest place to it, and of course they deliver. I often find I just don't want to have to pick up pizza, but I have discovered that it- Domino's, is no cheaper than a local favorite, from what I've seen where I live.

Throw in tip ftr the driver and it costs a couple bucks more for a 1 topping pizza, actually.

A local, family-owned place is not always better everywhere you go, but when it is, it seems a chain place (like Domino's near me) is never too far away. They have the best delivery in the business I think many would agree, of any big chain, but their pizza is no better and its no real bargain either, slice for slice.

I wont and never will eat another Dominos pizza ever since they came into Florida after Hurricane Andrew and all the other restaurants were feeding us for free after we lost everything and there was Dominos charging $1. Sure it wasnt much BUT when you have lost everything including access to your bank accounts $1 might as well be $100.

While chain Pizza normally stinks, if you had to stupp that low, Papa Johns is better. Instead of arson, I suggest better Pizza.

I can see a huge public relations problem for Domino's right about now and can you just see the Domino's regional manager wondering what to do about what these two idiots did. He's probably thinking how could my managers be so stupid.
